Men's champ Danny Tapia credits conservative race strategy at 2012 Cal International Marathon

Staying patient has been difficult for Danny Tapia in his prior marathons. At Sunday's Cal International Marathon, however, Tapia managed to use the difficult weather conditions to help himself hold back in the earlier stages of the race. Tapia had enough left over the last 10k to claim his first major marathon victory in 2:16:30.
