Abbey D'Absolutely awesome. Abbey D'Agostino shocked the field on Friday in the 5k running away from one of the fastest 10,000 runners in collegiate history in Betsy Saina. Abbey's time of 15:28.11 was the fifth fastest time in collegiate history and also an American-collegiate record. The following day D'Agostino did not leave any questions as to how strong she was when she pulled away from a strong 3k field to win by over six second in 9:01.08. There have only been two women in NCAA history to complete the double, Kim Smith (New Zealand, 3x Olympian) and Sally Kipyego (Kenya, Olympic silver medalist). The future looks bright for Abbey D and US women's distance running.
