W 100 H01 (Freeman 11.02 is #1 in the World and Track Record!)

null

This past weekend at the Florida Relays, Octavious Freeman broke the track and relay's record in the 100 meter dash with a wind legal 11.02. The time was a new PR, a school record (UCF) and also the number one time in the world this year. After a little digging we also found it was the fastest collegiate 100 meter time run in April since Lauryn Williams' (University of Miami) mark of 11.01 back on April 10, 2004. That year Williams went on to win the silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics (10.96PR) and followed it up the next year with a win in the 100 at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki (10.88PR). So it leaves us wondering....what's next for Octavious?? Side note: Outside of Williams, only one women had run faster than Freeman in the month of April (pro or collegiate).
