Eric Gillis of Guelph's Speed River Track and Field Club won his final race before next month's Olympic Games in Beijing.

Gillis has been putting all his energy toward aiming to peak on Aug. 17, the date of the Olympic 10,000-metre final.

Tim Konoval of the Speed River club recorded a personal best time in the men's 1,500m on the weekend as the club's New Balance Euro Tour came to an end at the Memorial Leon Buyle meet. Konoval, 24, registered a time of 3:42.90. The result continued a trend for Konoval this season as he has recorded personal bests at every distance between 800m and 5,000m.

Kyle Boorsma, 20, recorded a personal best in the 3,000m. Boorsma lowered his lifetime best to 7:59.72.

Cleve Thorson recorded a time of 3:49.09 in the 1,500m.
