How's his swimming? He obviously would make a great tri-athlete.

2:20 is not a bad estimate. Runners world did a side by side comparison between Lance and Tergat last year and lance was equal to or better than Tergot in VO2 and had a far greater lung capacity thus showing how his body is very capable of running at an elite level. The main difference is lance's weight and that he is not committed to running in any serious way.

True that! Armstrong is one of the greatest athletes who ever lived. No one has dominated a an endurance sport like Lance. Winning the Tour de France seven times, and going through cancer treatment in between. He runs this race for fun like everyone else, and there is no reason to rag on such an athlete who has worked so hard to help the fight against cancer, just because no one here appreciates cycling. Jeeez show some love.

He's not an expert nor did he ever claim to be. People do care about the basic 2:46 guy, they care about him when he has won 7 TDFs. Also, whoever suggested 2:46 makes him an "avg guy" is an idiot and probably couldn't hold that pace for a half. It isn't studly but it aint slow.

Maybe Lil' Kim will run a marathon. THAT would be an interview worth watching! But Lance? Could care less about Lance. Why is he an "expert" now anyway? "Uh, how much per mile is that?"

Just looking for a consensus here... if Lance were to run a 2:20 do you think it would a result of a) EPO b) blood doping c) good clean hard training d) he wont do it because he no longer will take drugs.

go lance! I think he ran a really good time considering his lifestyle and his body right now. He has a lot larger frame than many fast people out there, and has only been consistently running for not too long. Theres no need to bash his 2:46! It takes many of us average people years to reach that sort of time, and for him to reach that after his physical peak is great.

obviously lance is a marathon noob, it was his second one and he doesnt train that hard for it. he has not pounded the pavement, but he's not claiming he has. he does it for fun. i agree with lance when he says that THEORETICALLY, if he trained a lot and sacrificed as much as elite runners do, he could run 2:20. the guy has one of the best oxygen delivery systems in the world. all he's missing is the trials of miles and miles.

Lance must still be pumping the EPO.

C'mon. Everyone knows -- if they're honest with themselves -- he had a little help in his first few Tours after beating cancer. Am I alone?

Wow. 2:45. Woohoo. That is so great. I think LAnce is helping to downplay our sport. I know he is a great athlete. But really, he has been on a freakin' bike the last 15 years. He has not pounded the pavement. He needs to respect the sport a little more.

I like his comment at the end that running is the best way to exercise and the versatility of being able to just have a pair of shoes and that you can really do it where ever you go.

He started as a triathlete so it wouldn't be surprising if he went back at some point.

i'd love to see him race an ironman. obviously, this lance isn't the same one who raced the tour. but it'd just be fun to see him swim, bike, and run - i wonder how his bike would stack up to the top guys....

and a 15 minute 5k. I understand this guy is one of the most driven people on the entire planet, but I think that is a little far-fetched
