He is living proof that HE doesnt need 130 miles per week to be successful. To interpret his body as common, or set of physical characteristic among peers at that level, would be a mistake. That seems to only work for few, typically the inherently quick. It would be like saying "Josh McDougal is living proof that you DO have to run 130 miles per week to win Pre-NCAAs". Lopez also won and I would wager a lot that he didnt run 130 that week. Conversely, McDougal bombed at an NCAAs one year with a large taper, yet won this year closing with a 110 business-as-usual approach. Something works for everybody, but it is rarely the same stimulus or same chemistry that does it for one to the next. Id vote in favor of profitable high levels of volume (profitable being obvious in definition, but often practically relating to quality of recovery, adaptation, and potential negative relation to nearby stimulating workouts- with minimal mal-adaptation to top speed and form at racing pace etc)
