Pedestal Routine - At first glance most will agree this a core strength workout. I agree! However, the key here is that you do your best to keep your hips up and mimic the positions of the people in the video. Most every supine exercise in this video challenges the glutes, hamstrings and lower back, which are all part of your core, yet it's the broad view of the core that is being challenged here rather than than just the abdominal muscles. We're defining the core as roughly the area from the bottom of your rib cage to just above your knee...and in all three dimensions. This routine, coupled with the back routine, comprise a simple battery of exercises that will help all runners. The exercises in this DVD are the simplest, easiest exercises that you can do to improve your running. Many of the exercises here are intended to prevent injury while others are intended to improve your general strength. In the next DVD we'll move towards exercises that develop power but in the mean time sit back, watch the videos and ask yourself, "How can I become a better runner?"
