I hate to correct you...but Poly's track is cinder. It is a type of dirt & sand mixture. Pure dirt will clump.

Its nice to see Shalonda keeps an association with her high school. There are a number of all-weather tracks within a short driving distance from Poly - so its by choice that she is there.

I watched this girl run at East Regionals when she was at South Carolina. Good lord she absolutely dominated the 100 and 200. I was very surprised when she did NOT win nationals.

That track isn't cinder- its dirt. up until a few years ago very few high schools in Southern California had all-weather tracks. But, if a dirt track is groomed well (our coach was meticulous with ours) they can actually be pretty fast.

Great Clip! Helps people understand how little athletes in the inner city have and that their struggle to make it to the Olympics is much greater with a lack of money and facilities.
