come up big in big races, Webb? are you joking! Paris doesn't matter at all, all that matters at USA's is qualifying. did you see worlds last year? Who showed up, Webb? what did he get again?

Gabe looked pretty strong and consistent throughout. Interesting article about him in this month's Runnersworld. Pretty unorthodox dude, but it would be great so see him sneak on the team. I'm debating with myself whether or not someone will take it out, or with the heats catch up to them and make it a sit and kick race. If its the latter, Leo definitely has a shot but I feel right now Lagat can't be outkicked. Webb has been inconsistent, but I agree, he seems to come up big in bigger meets. Can't wait!

i certainly agree that webb isn't consistent, but as "Yup.." evidence doesn't suggest that venue has much to do with which webb shows at a given meet. He had top performances at big meets... winning at Paris Saint-Denis (Golden League) last year taking down a 3:28 and 3:26 guy in the process. winning US nationals... His 4th place at the Grand Prix Finals was also very respectable. His performances or lack there of are more indicative of over training than they are of some one afraid of a Big Show.

yeah webb isn't one that you can rely on, no offense but he posted times all over the board you never know what he is going to do. American record at some random meet, last place at any big venue...

The meet was designed to give athletes an opportunity to reach the “A” qualifying standards for the Trials, or simply give them one more chance to race.
