This dude ran like a 4:22 in the mile when he was a freshman back in high school. That's in crazy. This guy has a bigtime chance in the olympics. Seriously.... Who hasn't heard from him. He's famous everywhere. Especially when it comes 2 Latinos.

you say colby will be destroying him but colby lowe improved 7 seconds over 3 years in the 1600:
2006-04-11 4:13.72 SB District 5-5A Meet
2007-05-11 4:009.28 SB UIL Track Championships
2008-05-08 4:06.87 PR UIL Track Championships

fernandez improved from 4:24 as a frosh (don't know sophmore times) to 4:11 as a junior then 4:00 as a senior...

No, Mike he's not too old to run Juniors, but USATF Juniors was the same weekend at NON. So he could not have competed in both...therefore cannot compete at world juniors this year. He can do it next year, though if he is not too old, which if I remember correctly he wont be.

He says that the end of his season but what about the World Juniors? I don't think they have a 3k, but what about 1500 or 5k? Is he too old? I think you have to be 18 or under on the 1st September to be a Jnr?

only states that haven't changed their rules in the past 100 years enforce that. jewelry has no bearing on anything. look at the pros

i just noticed something, at my highschool meets if we wear any type of jewelry, even if its girls wearing earings or rings or whatever, they'll get disqualified as soon as they step on the track. im not saying german should be DQ'd, but shouldn't he have taken out his earings?

I'm just happy to have the honor of seeing this champion achieve this set of goals. Thanks to those who posted your videos. I have also had the opportunity to meet Fernandez as his substitute teacher. He really is as nice as he seems. He is friendly and down-to-earth, and even humble for a guy who has earned his confidence and my respect. I look forward to his achieving his collegiate goals, and hopefully see him in the Olympics someday.

Dear fellow track fans. Let's celebrate, not trade barbs. We've been blessed with tremendous recent performances in so many events. Look at Shalane, Shannon, Chanelle, Jeremy, Bernard, German, Alan, flotrackr... Isn't it great that we all know them by their first name. I am relishing the revival of our beloved sport. Let's run!

Mr. Nelson, don't be so hard on German. He's a wee young lad with lots to learn about recognizing faces that almost nobody in the world would recognize. Your cousins probably don't even recognize you.

Seriously, whoever wrote that comment- BRILLIANT! I laughed my a ss off for a good five minutes!
