Morgan,

Great job. Out of all the women in the 1500 finals who were interview after, you seem to realize that the women without the A standard should have gone for it.
No one person, unless they are superwoman, can break the wind the entire race. In road race cycling, eventhough we're competitors, if there's no teammate in the break away, we often times make aliances during the race to share the pace to bring back the break away. The dynamics of track are a bit different from cycling, but you and especially your coach could have communicated beforehand with other the racers and their coaches, who don't have the A standard to agree to share breaking the wind. You can reason with them by saying who cares about places behind 3rd; let's share the load to break the wind at least until 800m to create an opportunity for all of us to get the A standard, then it's everyone for themselves.
