I'm stunned that you didn't get to Beijing.
Lesson learned: one shouldn't use it all in heats.

Gabe, way to be man. You gave it your all and showed what a good racer you are. The only thing that made it really hard was the lack of an A qualifier for the Olympics. But you will get that and represent us in 2012. The letsrun interview on bliptv was reassuring that you will be out for redemption over the next four years and the look in your eyes about "not going out like this" really is great for athletics.

Gabe,
I just want you to know that even though you didn't make the olympics this time around you are still by far my favorite runner. You have inspired me through your ways spiritually and physically more than any other runner ever has. It is my dream to oneday be as good of a runner and person as you. I pray that you will stick with running and come back stronger than ever in 2012. You are the man!

I was so excited to see Gabe win his heat today!!!!! I actually met him about a week ago...I was in Eugene, Oregon for the PICCFEST part of the Oregon Bach Festival (national children's choir festival, basically) and Mr. Jennings came to a rehearsal and spoke with us and took questions and everything...he even came to our concert and sang a piece with us!! he's such a chill guy and who knew he was a singer??! he also said he's getting into harp and harpischord playing, and he's studying an opera role. I am SO rooting for gabe jennings!!!!!!

i like that most people are just typing their opinion and not making comments for the sake of getting other people angry. Letsrun.com people, feel free to go over there if you want to fight and correct spelling!

There is something about this young man that is refreshing and honest ... yeah, he's done some nutty things ... but he is what he is, he's a huge talent ... I wish him a ton of luck in the 1500m trials and hope he can "dive" to snatch that third spot on our 1500m Olympic team this week

Probalby not. But would you want to coach a whacked-out kook who's so mercurial he could just decide the day before the trials he needs to go seek some enlightenment by playing his didgeridoo in some far off land? I wouldn't.

I have never understood the infatuation with Gabe Jennings that some people have. Why are so many people who post on here such Gabe groupies...fawning over him like he's some kind of maharaji or something. I won't deny the guy's talent - at least that he WAS talented. But he wasted his prime years by seeking whatever illumination he was seeking. All of you who think he's making the team are DELUSIONAL!!!!!! Almost as delusional as Gabe himself. And don't worry, I'll come back on here and take my beating if I'm wrong...but I won't be.

Mark - another excellent interview. I love when you get these guys to talk about their fears and vunerabilities. It's a real art to get these guys to take off their shoe salesman hats. I hope you continue this for another four years.
