Jorge Torres won his first US championship in 2006 when he took the 10,000 meter crown at USAs. This followed a stellar 2005 season where Torres set a new PR… ...More about Jorge
Great inteview. Congrats to Jorge and the Steve Jones crew.
It's becoming clear that one of the contributers to in the improvement in US distance running was the formation of so many quality running groups for post collegiates.
Best Wishes Jorge ... live the dream! What a fantastic story ... you make your family and country very proud indeed!

Jorge is one of my favorite runners, he was a great runner from a early age. Jorge was a great runner, held the state record for the the junior high mile, and junior high cross country. Jorge also placed in the top five in cross country his Freshman, Sophmore, Junior and senior years. He also won state cross country his Sophmore, Junior, and Senior years. Jorge is the only runner that I can think of who has won Junior High Cross Country State, High School Cross Country State, and an NCAA Cross Country Individual National Title. Good luck in the olympics Jorge! We are all rooting for you.

Jorge is the man! I feel like Jorge is not credited enough for his accomplishments, but he should be. He is such a chill guy. I like that. A quiet guy that takes care of his business on the track/course rather than his mouth.
That's so funny, "2008 Olympian" as one of his goals in 6th grade, awesome. "Go out for the win" great advice...I like what he had to say about the "synergy of a group" for his training, and giving credit to them. also, about taking things for granted, his experience that happened in 2003, and that he knew he would "get back up there." and he said, "I never lost the vision of my dream." "There's more disappointments than there are ups in this sport."
good interview.
Clear your friggin throat. I'd rather hear you hack for a minute than spend the whole video listening to the waggle of the crap in the back of your throat. It's been this way in about 8/10 of the Trials interviews. Repeat after me: "A-hem. A-HEM!" Thanks.

You're right on about the synergy of the group.

Jorge, this had been a long time in the making. I know that those of us who saw you run early on in high school knew that this was your destiny. You have a great support system, especially your brother Ed who himself is an elite top runner. From Fed to now you've come a long way. Congrats.
