The winner Kobayashi has run the A-standard before but only has the B-standard this season so the JAAF didn`t pick him for the Beijing team as far as I know.

The winning time in this race appears to be about 3:49 or 3:50. Do any of these guys have the Olympic A Standard?

Strange: 2008 Japanese Olympic Trials - Men`s 1500

Uploaded By: Brett Larner
National record holder Fumikazu Kobayashi wins the men`s 1500 m at the 2008 Japanese National Track & Field Championships thanks to a strange accident in which leader Kazuya Watanabe collapsed meters from the finish, breaking the stride of trailer Yasuhiro Tago and allowing Kobayashi to squeeze by in 3:49.96. Kobayashi was not selected for the Beijing Olympic team. For more information please visit http://japanrunningnews.blogspot.com
