Poor Adam. I'm always impressed with his passion and relentless commitment to the sport, but I'm a little worried that he's going to go off the deep end when he finally retires. I hope he can have a few more good seasons before hanging em up.

Adam says he should have just run the 10k at the trials. It would have been interesting to hear his take on the fact that he technically wasn't high enough on the qualifiers list to even try. That's a tough question to ask and I even think he may have deserved and exemption but I'm curious what he'd say.
99% of the time the fact that Mark is so close to these guys is a huge asset. This is one case where it would be a hinderance b/c generally you don't put your friends on the spot like that.

I think goucher needs to just take a break from competition for a while. Get refreshed mentally and physically. When he comes back from a little down time, and low relaxed milage, he can start a big-buildup for a longer race, but make it a long aerobically oriented build-up. And maybe he will suprise quite a few people. I just think he needs a break from racing.

Never doubt yourself-the talent is still there, i'm sure if you do some miles/halfs get the speed back. I'm sure you'll be back...good luck.
