Sell has racked up quite a collection of records and achievements, including: placing 25th at IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in 2003; membership to USATF World Championship marathon team in 2005; first place in the U.S. Half Marathon in 2006; Chicago Distance Classic Champion in 2006 (1:04:25); first place in the USATF 25K Championships; and third in the 2008 Olympic Trials (2:11:40). His personal best marathon was run in 2:10:47 in October of 2006. Needless to say, Sell says he’s looking forward to the “hot, flat course in Beijing.”

#27	Optimist August 16, 2008 at 10:11am hey ca$h...you're an idiot. home depot's olympic athlete developement program lets brian get full time pay AND benefits for half time work. he gets a very flexible schedule...the basic requirement is that he must average 20hrs/week over the course of a year. so if he wants to work a couple 40 hour weeks and then take 2 weeks off, that's cool w/ HD. AND HE DESERVES THIS...STOP BEING A HATER...YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS B/C YOU NEVER HAD THE WORK ETHIC TO ACHIEVE ANY PERSONAL SUCCESS FOR YOURSELF. reply

#8	Michigander August 14, 2008 at 9:23am I'm always amused how clueless other Michiganders (or Michiganites if you will) are about in-state runners. And the Home Depot Olympic program pays for 40hrs/week, but the athletes only do 20hrs/week. reply
#7	Anonymous Coward August 14, 2008 at 9:20am Ca$h, Just found one video I remembered of him talking about it. http://www.nyrr.org/races/pro/mens_trials/glory/index3.asp#tuesday That's from a series of videos the NYRR did before the Olympic Trials called "Chasing Glory" (really good videos over all the athletes, by the way). Anyways, he mentions around 2:55 in the video titled "Meet Brian Sell" that he only has to work 20hours a week, goes in when he wants, and can take off weeks at a time to visit family, go to races and such. reply
#6	Anonymous Coward August 14, 2008 at 9:10am Ca$h, I believe on one of the interviews I've seen on here Brian mentions something along the lines of the "Olympic Development Program" (I believe that's the name) with which he is a part of working at Home Depot he get's benefits of a full-time employee while only working 20hours a week. I don't know if that would include the equivalent of 40hours pay, or if it's just health coverage and all that mess. reply
