I was at that camp and I am in those vids and that was tough, I dont go to Albuequerue Academy or whatever but those guys were good and no we did not run Mesa we ran Dowdy Draw but Magnolia Road was the hardest at around 10,000 feet but it was all tough

Know It All   August 21, 2008 at 11:29pm
This is the Dowdy Draw Trail. The confusion is that the parking lot they're stretching at is also the south end of the Mesa Trail (the other end being in town at Chautauqua park).

To the person who says they're running slow, that may be true, yet Academy is one of the best boys XC teams in the country so that must mean that American Distance Running is in trouble...
...or it means that you've never run at elevation. Also, they're probably running their easy day as two other videos are Magnolia road and a Farlek workout

1. This is not the Mesa Trail (at least not much of it). I ran the trail twice this summer, on chance visits, and the Mesa Trail runs north south along the Flatirons, and it's rocky and lots of steep ups and downs.
2. Averaging 8 minute miles would be highly impressive and nimble pace on the Mesa Trail - it's tricky footing for a foot-trail, it's at altitude, and there are steep parts up and down.

However, my guess is this is South Boulder trail, mostly, which connects to the Mesa Trail near the El Dorado end, and at one point it looks like they are running a bit up the trail from El Dorado.

There are many different talent levels at the camp. Albuquerque Academy, 3rd at NTN last year and going to be ranked 1 or 2 in the country this year, are there. Also, this is at 8000+ elevation.
