Solomon Haile (Manhattan Course Record)

I read the dyestat and looked at the pictures of him road racing. He could very well be 20.He is Good. No one deny's that. 4:50 pace is not that fast, but you can tell runners are intimidated by him. And if he is 19, at the start of the season,(each season is different), then he can compete.(In the State Of MD) For that season. I have a bunch of african friends and sometimes they lie about there age to be able to compete b/c thats an oppurtunity. That is not fair. B/C it changes the outcome. But he is a senior, and record setting, so maybe they will let him snag the MD records...maybe they will stop him in indoor or outdoor. But Id say, they will let it ride. Age and maturity is a huge advantage. But lastly If you know why africans win, its how they train, not how hard, or counting miles. They win cause they train smarter than americans. Do your core work, and run hills, and run fast, and it wont matter if this SHERWOOD high student beats you, hes still a competitor and as it lies, your gonna have to beat him to win.

He looks young to me. Even if he really was 20, who the heck cares? It's high school running for crying out loud. I went to high school with a girl who was 20 when she graduated with our class. She had been adopted from Colombia and started the first grade when she was like 7 or something. It was no big deal, she participated in school sports and nobody made a deal about it, so who the heck cares. 17, 18, or 20, he is still talented and can kick your butt, so quit being jelous and quit making a mountain out of a mole hill.

No one can honestly look at this man and say he is 17 years old. Its not fair to the 17 year olds who have to race against this adult. It wouldn't shock me if he was 30 years old.

You do not need to be 20 years old to enter road races. And of course you can be in the public school system without a birth certificate. How do you explain all the illegal aliens that attend school? Both of those arguments are ridiculous.

And I could have broken the Van Cortland course record if I was running it when I was 20 years old and a junior in college.

ok so assuming that he just entered those road races as 20 because he didn't have a guardian to sign for him, if he accepted that $500 for winning the hartfort 1/2 marathon then wouldn't he be ineligable in the NCAA?

if he's 20 or 17, w.e age he is just let it go. if he's lying then god will take care of it. it will come back to hurt him later in life if he is indeed lying. but if he isn't, he looks to have a promising future and i wish him all the best.

Thats wierd!? why did he change his name from Solomon Semunguse to Haile? Did he have to do that to fake his name. Because the Semunguse guys s definitely the Haile guy, if you just look at the photos. I'm pretty sure he is a joke.

First of, that is poor logic. If athletes are cheating and taking steriods should I just train harder and try to beat them even though that may be impossible? and its more than just rumor and hear-say. He has listed himself as 20 yrs old more than a few times:

Good to catch Solomon right after the race. He still glows and you can see him change gears as you talk about college and the future. He really seems like a focused guy...someone the college recruiters are going to want to snag!! On the age issue, maybe he can clear up that in his next interview.....Right Ryan and Mark!!

Instead of working harder to improve your times, you try to tear Solomon down so he doesn't make you look slow and lazy. He has a natural talent for running and trains hard to better himself. He is a phenom-yes. Your petty whining and griping only portrays you for the sore losers you are. Try celebrating his personal successes that may, one day, be Olympic success for the USA.
