You have to run harder to stay at the same pace in lane two. Good idea

That wasn't 3 days before NXN, it was 3 days before CIF-SS Finals. Their schedule at that point, spanning a total of 3 weeks, would be CIF Finals, State Finals, and NXN.

it would have been great if Saugus won. They're a very good team. Manlius is a great team. Saugus will keep at it and may one day achieve the same level of greatness. : ) Keep it up Saugus!

You all should make a 4X8 team. 7 girls running at or under 2:35 at the end of a 20 minute 3 mile at practice..

Coach Wanabee - 70 miles/week for the top girls usually +- 5/10, but they run it really slow, and double a lot. less emphasis on intervals and repeats, mostly just a ton of base. These girls could run for days...

Stuck up?

What a joke. Just because they are going to win NXN and they could beat your guys team doesn't mean that you need to be upset with them

Does anyone know how many miles per week they run during the XC season? The coach says that they work a lot on aerobic development which seems like a good long term approach for h.s. runners. I am just curious how much mileage they actually do.

I know from personal experience that Saugus is probably one of the most down to earth and humble teams in CIF. I dont see setting the all time course records at Mt. Sac and Woodward park multiple times as "sucking" either.

if you want simulation, try running off the track maybe...i understand the concept of trying to get a turnover, but it kinda defeats the purpose if you can only do it on the track...nice trick with the boxes i applaud your efforts!

Mahoney's the #1 and Jauregei usually finishes #2 in races though she has finished lower because of bad races and because of the insane depth of the Saugus team.

the boxes break up the rythm of your stride, it helps simulate xc while being on the track.. not funny, smart.

Audio and some interaction with the girls on the team is what this video is missing.

Otherwise everything else is good.

Great video, David. It's nice having a staff member on the west coast.

One suggestion--maybe in the future, don't entirely mute the audio of the video. It's nice to be able to hear the communications between coaches and athletes during the workouts.

Awesome workout ladies! Wow, this team has SO much depth! 6:40 for the girls like Mahoney, Juaragei, etc must have felt slower than tempo.. but I like how they picked it up at the end and on the 200s. This coach knows what he is doing to work on their aerobic threshold and not push intensity. I love the boxes and how he talks about practicing on sand for NXN! Good luck Saugus, can't wait to see how they run at NXN!
