Shadrack has a non-embellished style that is extremely becoming. Hope he continues along his path to greatness in everything he does.

By far one of my favorite college runners, i have had the privilege of meeting him several times and even running with him and no matter how fast he is he would ask me about my times and races and just a great, humble and hard working guy. He is also one of the most assimilated kenyan runners i know. Just can't say enough good things about this guy. go kick some ass Shaddy!

In My Top 5   November 14, 2008 at 10:34am
I remember reading on the Texas A&M Corpus website in 05 about how he lost his spike in the middle of a race, put it back on, and still came back to run a 14:40 something. When reading that I never thought this guy would be a National Champion.. I hate the Aggies but I like this kid.. Hard worker

Songok is truly one of my favorites. If you ever have the priveldge to meet him in person, you realize right off the bat what a humble person he is. After every race I have seen him run this season, I have noticed that he goes and seeks out the winner to congratulate them; truly a class act. Just wanted to wish a fellow Texas runner good luck at Regionals, and go get em' at Nationals!

Shadrack Songok, Texas A&M

Shadrack Songok, who was last year at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, is now in grad school at Texas A&M (College Station). Last year Songok was the last qualifier in the Indoor 5k (actually qualified 6 days before the national meet). That next week he won the NCAA Indoor 5k. He followed it up with another national championship in the NCAA Outdoor 10k. What does this mean? Shadrack can race! With regionals one day away and nationals 10 days later, Shadrack and his team are going into the South Central region ranked #1....the first time Arkansas hasn't been sitting on top. They are looking to make the journey to Terre Haute as a team. As for the individual race at NCAAs....this is one guy you can't count out.
