I took 4 gues at 10k 20k 30k and 35k. Drank at every water spot, water and gatorade and poured water on my head 10 times.
I did not want to hit the wall bc of lack of calories.

Question!   November 4, 2008 at 9:10pm
Solid clip dude. Did you do any out of the ordinary refueling? In other words, did you just take the race drinks on the course or did you do anything different. Just curious. ~ PAUL

So could you at least tell us if your going to run another one in the near future and if so when? You could drop a lot of time still.

No Ipod

The NYRR asked me to wear a GPS thing that they were testing. That is the thing that is on my arm. No Ipod for me. The crowd and the bands were really cool and all I needed.

Questions   November 2, 2008 at 9:47pm
Mark, how come the gps said your total was 2:34:58 and Ryan logged it at 2:34:59, but the official is 2:36:07? It is pretty amazing that out of 37,500 marathoners, you came in as the 88th person to cross the finish line. When looking at the official site, I can see why alot of people enter just to finish. What a great way to start year number 3 on Flotrack. (Yes, Ryan, we are looking for some extra suprises out of you too!)

Mark,

Great job. I am impressed, though I see you admit to training more seriously than some of us were led to believe.
Of course, you were an excellent prep and Division I collegiate runner, so maybe at age 25 we shouldn't expect you to be a slouch.
I suspect you could easily get down to 2:20 or so. But, you might have to give up some other endeavors.
Regards,
Jon

The only thing that this site is dedicated to is creating a community around our sport. This is a perfect "day of rest" from politics, especially on the two year anniversary of Flotrack.....with Mark's marathon debut....

Congrats to a very good finish time. I believe the "six days" refers to Marks verbal agreement time to run the NY Marathon. His training time was obviously more than what he revealed to flotrack fans. Good performance.

I think a 8:4ish steeple all american can open up with a 2:36 with 6 weeks of training. Go look at his logs, and its not like he got fat over the past 2 years

Congrats man, great race! I had you down to crash and burn in 3:02. 2:36 is SOLID!

The 6 days of training is BS, you've lost alot of weight recently! If you really ran 2:36 on minimal training you should get back at it seriously and for for a OT qualifier next year.
