Actually Nike has made huge strides to improve conditions in the factories where their product is made and is working hard to improve product delivery deadlines - which will lessen the hours for the factory workers.
NXN is a great event. It is wonderful that Nike supports this event and gives the kids a wonderful experience they will always remember.
Thanks Nike and Mr. Parker. Pre would be proud and wish this was around when he was in high school.

I did not receive a response from your with regards to my original posting again this is what I wrote

"Can you help me get in touch with him. I am very disappointed with NIKE that I can not get in touch with a person. I decided to hold a sneaker drive for their recycle grind program and my drive got too large for me to handle and I can not talk to someone about my success. I rethinking about NIKE. Any suggestions?"

So dont buy the shoes and cloths. Don't wear it even if you get it for free from your college, but remember that there is always two sides to a story and you prob should not buy or use anything from China or the far east..... oh wait stop reading this bc the comp your on or the power cord pugged into the wall and the socket in the wall are alll have parts from china where people make what might seem to you pennies...... but they are working there bc it is better then the alternative. Soon these countries will raise their standard of living and demand higher prices and the US companies will go to some other undeveloped county and start investing in infrastructure and get people to work for cheap and guess what, the new undeveloped country will get developed and the people will have a higher standard of living bc of the US companies........

Mark Parker is a great guy. I interviewed him last year and it is pretty impressive that he stays late on a Friday Night and all day Saturday at a high school event.

Basic economic theory states that when two parties agree on a trade both are benefiting. These workers are not forced to work they choose to because its better then their alternatives. It would behoove you to put yourself in their shoes for a day, and then maybe you would understand. It's kind of hard when your in the USA on the internet on YOUR OWN computerto really relate with the strugles of man in third world nations

Nike is another large corporation that financially and morally exploits children and adults in third world countries. This company uses slave labor to greatly increase their profits by paying these people barely anything for their labor. Workers at a sweatshop located in Hermosa in El Salvador operated by Nike, make less than two tenths to four tenths of one percent of the actual retail cost in the United States of article of clothing or shoe. For example a worker will only earn 29 cents for every 140 dollar Nike Shirt and only 30 cents for every Nike pair of shorts that they sew together (Hermosa 2). Children workers will earn even less than the adults that work in the sweatshops. In addition to the insignificant salary, the workers are forced to work seven days a week with exceptionally long hours, up to 19 and a half hours each day (Hermosa 1). They also have to deal with water with bacteria levels of over 429 times larger than that of international normal levels (Hermosa 1). Unions, a code of conduct, and health care are nonexistent in the Nike sweatshops. The sweatshop is under surveillance with security cameras for the entire day. Women in the factory are required to meet extremely high production quotas, such sewing up to 2000 different sleeves for Nike shirts (Hermosa 1). Other companies that manage their sweatshops similarly to Nike's are Adidas and Puma.
