Has anyone noticed that almost all the NCAA qualifying times with the exception of maybe four have come on 300 meter tracks. The NCAA needs to check that out because Rupp hasn't been able to break four minutes, yet all of a sudden he's on a 300 meter track and he breaks four! They need a conversion, because its no secret that less turns means faster times! That being said, Go Austin Abbott! That was a strong kick from way back!! UW all the way!
i see where you're coming from but it doesn't make sense... like you said, less turns = faster times but 300m tracks have MORE turns... that would make the conversion faster time faster than what rupp ran.......

You really think that it is a fluke after he ran 13:18 at Arkansas on a 200m track? What it really comes down to is that Rupp is just in phenomenal shape this year- that's it pure and simple.

Abbot ran a 42 last 307m, so that's a 41 300 or sub 55 quarter speed.

Comments on Bio: Rupp no longer holds the HS record for 3k that was broken by German Fernandez with a 7:59 in route to his 8:34 2M record at NON last year. Also German broke his National Jr 3k record this year with his 7:47 3k at one of the Washington indoor meets.

I agree with you most of the time, but for a meet like this I don't really care. Maybe if it was an NCAA Championship or something...I'd be pissed.

If Austin Abbott had stuck a little close to Jennings and Rupp, that race would have been his. Either way, fantastic race for all.

wow, big piano on Rupps back last 200m, but I would presume he went out so hard b/c he is so strong that if he goes out in 2:56 he knew there would be no way he didn't break 4. great run to finally get the 4 minute barrier behind him, long 5 year quest finally comes to an end
