This is a sprinter's workout!!! instead replace the 7 mile tempo with some 200m repeats

I am a 200m and 400m guy and we do literally the exact same circuit.
I think its funny how some distance runners call sprinters lazy, yet when a distance runner is seen doing a sprinter's workout it is considered one of the hardest workouts of the year....

One could argue that Shalane's workout has more credibility as she ended up with a bronze at the olympics whereas OSU underperformed at NCAA XC.
So one can legitimately
speculate that the OSU overdid it...perhaps as a result of the camera being on them as coach Smith alludes to at 2 minutes into the OSU workout.

OSU workout wasn't that great.. they just closed the last mile fast. Besides OSU blew up at Nats with an 8th place finish which kind of ruined the credibility. Flanagan's 3rd at the OLYMPICS did not.

I think this track season it would be interesting to see a couple workouts from events outside running. Arizona State throwers might be interesting...

This is bull and not motivational at all if anything slightly boring. The OSU workout or Washington womens workout were best and OSU most motivational.

Not knocking the OSU workout at ALL, those guys were studs.

BUT, I'd say this one by Shalane still takes it, combine everything together it's nasty. Those little circuits don't look like much from this perspective, but if you have ever done them that's another story. You feel like you are running all out while breathing through a straw by the end. She did this after the tempo, and before core (all at altitude).
Good stuff.

No doubt did Shalane have probably the best year in 2008, however as far as motivational workout it would hands down go to OSU's workout.

Also pretty sweet, especially since Shalane was the only American distance runner to win a medal at this Olympics.. and she overcame food poisoning.

EXCELLENT choice Flotrack :). This is probably the best pick yet out of all the "best of 2008". I was thinking of this workout as well, and this is definitely my most watched workout (used to watch it all the time back in May/June). Great one and I still use the plyometrics she does now.

this is the only time I watched it today. But in may and june it was once a day for like a month. To think this was done at altitude. When I saw the title I knew ehich one it was.

The Fueling Ritz series is possibly the best flotrack videos ever made. Ritz definitely should have won. This workout was probably the most insightful, seeing what cook has his runners do.
