I love how he is still interested in the results of the women's race right after he finishes. lol That man is committed to his job.

I thought it was funny that they gave themselves an award. You guys deserve it

On a serious note though I agree with anyone that says it was Wheating. How did he not even get mentioned. He tore up the track and literally nobody knew him. CHristian Smith had went 1:44/45 already at least. In my eyes there is no other surprise in the same league as Wheating.
Throwin this out there...Matt Scherer?

Even if Mark fudged on his training schedule, he couldn't fudge about NY final time......when it comes to being passionate about running, Mark's got it. Ryan, now how about both of you doing it for next year?

Another consideration: Alan Webb. What an unfortunate 2008.

I'm surprised Wheating wasn't the big surprise... no one knew who he was at all until this spring/summer.

2:36 is a solid debut in my book! Mark, you should def shoot for the OTs and continue to get Flo out there. I'll be aiming for the 2:19...you have more time to improve when it comes to marathoning.

ok this is def not the biggest surprise of 08 i'm sorry not trying to be a hater. i think the biggest surprise was def when christian smith out leaned khadevis robinson for the LAST spot on the usa 800m squad. this was not just an ordinary guy he beat, he beat kd the guy whos been the top 800m running in the us for a long time. nick symmonds face when he saw the results says it all, he rushed to find christian when he saw that he got the third spot. now that was surprising!!!

Derek Rubis your bleeding Wisconsin bias. Matt, Chris, Evan and everyone else you claim are your "friends" are definately not. Your stalker qualities may very well be the reason they actually left Madison.

Im still baffled by that run... Id like to see Mark put in 3 months of solid training for it next year. No doubt he could get an OT qualifier if he wanted to.
