Wow   January 19 at 9:27pm
this is awesome because she doesn't know anything about the what happens after the race. She might be going to world championships and when she found out she was like: "really"

Awesome advertisement for getting an education.
It's a shame that the coach Wetmore's of the world wouldn't have time for someone like this.

From one Kelly J to another! How about you be the fast one? :) We're so proud of you Kelly. Mainly because you're so sweet and smart!! Your months of hard work have paid off. Joe Dudman wants to know if you met Meb. See you soon!!

Unreal. Un-stinking-believable. Says she felt comfortable the whole race, just "floating along." I can't wait to see what she can run with a little more experience, not to mention with more than a couple weeks with Hudson. Great story. Keep it up.

Congratulations!
Reminds me of a lady named Heather May who didn't run in high school or college then came on like gang busters.
Keep up the good work, it's always great to see someone come out of the darkness.
I remember that article in the old "Runner" magazine about that dude who worked in a factory and came on in a similar fashion.

She's going to the world half champs for sure if she wants to go. Each nation gets a team of seven athletes with 5 who get to compete.

"903.4 Entry Regulations"
"903.4.1 Members may enter one team in each race. A maximum of seven athletes may be entered; no more than five will be allowed to start, with three to score." (iaaf.org)

This was the selection procedure for the last Half Marathon Champs:

"Women's automatic selections: Two (2) positions will be offered (based on rank order of finish) among the top 5 finishers at 2008 USA Half Marathon Championships; two (2) positions will be offered (based on rank order of finish) among the top 10 finishers at the 2008 USA 20 km Championships."

"Women's at-large selections: If position(s) remain unfilled, performance list(s) will be used with consideration of 15 km - 25 km times from September 4, 2006 through September 7, 2008." (usatf.org)
