It is fantastic that people like Ritz and Hudson as willing to share their knowledge and experience; not keep it concealed in the fear that their competition may get an advantage from it.

Next hallowed ground to crumble: HRM&GPS usage, and Gallo-walk breaks. (iPods are not allowed in USATF-sanctioned races.)

That thud you heard was some of the crusty, old-school marathoners fainting from the realization that now elite marathoners use 7 gels while racing a marathon.

This is an extraordinarily fine interview. The interviewer asks wonderful questions, and he asks them in a tone that elicits intelligent answers. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Fueling Ritz

Uploaded By: Flotrack
Back on November 3, 2007 Dathan Ritzenhein did more than show up and run to finish 2nd and punch his ticket to Beijing. For Ritzenhein, the performance was the outcome of months of preparation and fine tuning on every aspect of his race. From uniform tests and shoe practices to fueling strategies with gels and sports drinks -- Brad and Dathan left no stone unturned. During a recent expo at the Eugene Marathon, the duo spoke at length about the training for the trials and ultimately, the 2008 Summer Olympics. This is the second part of an hour-long talk filmed on May 2nd, 2008 by Kevin Danaher.
