Terrific interview. Bowman's advice applies beyond the athletic realm. I am a speech coach and just posted about this interview on my speaking advice blog:

I would welcome your feedback.

I have tried to do some of this over the years but as a coach it is often hard to hide your anticipation. Mark and Ryan anyone not interested in the mental side of sport clearly has never coached and frankly does not really understand competition. Beautiful video.

Mark, just ignore the "lazy" comment. He was probably joking, if not then the individual is clearly new to flotrack.

This is one of my favorite interviews and totally applies to track. I believe this 4 min interview can change your perspective for the better. If you have been in our house you prob got shown this interview. I wanted this interview to be out in the track community.

This was awesome. I would never look at floswimming to find something like this. Thanks for mining this piece of gold for us. I wouldn't mind hearing more from top coaches in any discipline, especially on the mental aspect of sport. Great work! Mark and Ryan, I hope you have enjoyed your time off and that you will be able to come back well rested.

Love what he had to say. Defiantly put this kind of top-notch stuff on flotrack, it certainly applies to running track.

awesome video, i think its great to put stuff like this up even if it is not specifically about running, he is a great coach who clearly understands what it takes for athletes to perform at their best when it counts

Bob Bowman

There are a lot of great coaches out there and many of which are outside of track and field. Although it may not be the same sport, the idea of mental preparation and competition can carry across many different playing fields.
