Not sure but I think you order ticket from the hosting venue. At least that was the way in Arkansas. I think the athletes receive tickets for a coach and maybe a trainer. Relatives and friends are on their own but the cost isn't that bad. The General admission tickets in Fayetteville were in the end zone past the finish line and the preferred seats in the final stretch stands.

How are outsiders supposed to get tickets for nationals? Also, will the athlete's family get free tickets to nationals?

why would they athletes want to run on Mondo, that surface is as hard as rock. They'll pull up with hamstring injuries in no time.

I just looked it up, and the NCAA Indoor Championship is scheduled to be back at the Tyson Indoor Track Center in Arkansas for 2010. Looks like aTm is only getting the championship for one year. I knew it would take more than a big building to compete with tradition.

It's big, but Arkansas' indoor is known for being one of the fastest tracks in the country, not to mention the history of Arkansas track and the seating that goes all the way around in Tyson Indoor. aTm can build a large building, but it takes a lot more than that to compete with Tyson Indoor. I'm sure they'll realize how sterile the NCAA championships feel this year and move it back to Arkansas.

To the Navy person,

Your facility is for football, volleyball, and track, you basically have a facility for 3 sports, this is soley dedicated to track and field.

This video mentioned that the plan is to add more bleachers all the way around. I'm guessing this is where student seating will be. I'm really excited for the NCAA championships coming in March.

What a great setup! Well thought out! FYI...Indiana Wesleyan University actually has an indoor track that is bigger in Mondo sq. ft!!! IWU has 73,125 sq. ft!!! They are also wall to wall Mondo with a full 8 lane wide radius! They don't have the banked track and do not have seating for 5000 but they have an incredibly functional set-up!!

The track its self is a lot like Nebraska's. It looks like a bigger and better version. Being from a particularly cold part of TX, it's good to have another indoor venue in the state. Hope I get to run on it soon.

This destroys Arkansas. The throws at Arkansas are way the hell away. Not to mention the amount of warm-up space......30m of runway just doesn't cut it anymore. Obviously, A&M;understands this and has let their actions be a testament to that. Plus, the seating alone will allow more spectators witness the athletic monsters that this country has to offer!

Another thing that I love is the fact that the "South" finally has an indoor facility that lets high school athletes get a feel for what indoor track is all about before they get to college. A&M;may not get much right but it does seem that they have their heads in the right place when it come to their track and field. Nice to see a school investing in the sport!

seat wise i have to say it is good but otherwise the new NAVY indoor track is definantly so much better than any other track out there. the track is hydraolics and i ran the 3000m today and it felt good. you guys have to check it out. it has a wall made of a big window that faces the anapolis river. it is funded by the government for gods sake.

They have their act together and it s a class act. Flotrack's got to rank if you got there the day after their own coach got into the facility.
Looking forward to your coverage of the meets.

MAN! Pretty awesome facility! Definitely top notch and they definitely believe in going all the way or not going for it at all and I am right there with them on that. It would be nice to have fans on both sides of the track though, but I am sure it will echo enough in that BIG building and it will be plenty loud for the athletes competing.

Looks like the quoted price for the indoor facility is $38 million which I do believe includes the track and football parts of the facility as a whole. Hey thats a small price to pay!

Fans are too far from the races on the oval - rather go to Arkansas! It will be VERY quiet on the backstretch unlike Arkansas where there are fans all the way around. Looks nice with a lot of bells and whistles but still... Arkansas is better.

Maybe after Bill Berg retires from Texas A&M;, he can head up USATF... anyone that can build this kind of facility in the heart of football land and SELL seats for TRACK AND FIELD has my vote. If I was a high school coach and had a great athlete, I would definitely advise them to check out and sign up to attend A&M;.

New NCAA Indoor Host Site

There has been talk of a new indoor track and field facility at Texas A&M for a few years and now its a reality. Their 65,000 sq/ft facility will open up tomorrow for its first competition against Houston. Texas A&M was given the opportunity to host this year's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships marking the first time in many years that the meet has not been hosted at Arkansas. We stopped into College Station the day after the track opened to check it out and see what everyone has to look forward to. Take a look, but we're warning you....its BIG!!
