I'd do this same workout in HS, but I was at 4500ft and I'd take 400m recovery between reps, and only the last 2 would be fast. Obviously this is a much harder workout.

This brings back tons of memories from back in the day. Puking!, Rocking intervals, dodging basketballs during intervals, watching people suck air at meets. The elevation isn't so bad when you train there year round. NAU just isn't the same since coach Mann left.

The dome is an indoor basketball facility, 300m mondo track, football field, graduation venue, seats 15,000, holds the NAU athletic department offices, and was at one time the largest wood structured dome in the world. Just in case you wanted to know...

people commeting don't be so freaking picky about the type of workout or that u don't like it, etc... we're lucky we have this website and guys who love track and will post wo videos like this. many teams prolly aren't so willing ot have their workouts taped for all to see. for example, notice no oregon xc wo's or alan webb wo's....we're lucky we get hi-quality elites like the above one.

I don't mind if you guys have like 10 mcmillan elite workouts. I assume other elite teams aren't too open to filming their workouts or maybe not as accessible . I could be wrong about that...

The 7000 ft elevation still doesn't sink in. This is an amazing workout at sea level.........finishing in 53?!
I read the book The Greatest about Haile and it said that he and the others would do a workout at I think 7000 feet (I may be wrong on the elevation) and did 4X1200's @ 2.55, 4X800 @ 1.55, and 4X400's @ 55. All before a hard tempo run. But yea that is an amazing workout even if they were at sea level

Just sent text to Greg and got details

Workout was:
Martin Fagan
Andrew Lemoncello
Jordan Horn
Cele Rodriguez
Matt Clark
Phil Wharton
Eric Heins (NAU Coach)
Cele now lives permanently in Flagstaff, not Albuq. Born in Mex but is US citizen, former World XC team
200s were just at easy jog (~45 seconds to 1 minute)
Read about Hammer intervals in Scott Simmon's book Take the Lead
