Rest   February 26 at 2:19pm
Flotrack used to be really good about posting REST as well as interval splits during "Workout Wednesday" videos. Please return to that model! The length of rest is just as much a part of a workout as is the speed of the intervals.

Wow. A 1:04 was the fastest time in the state where I live and I run a 1:06 and came in 4th overall at the state indoor meet. Rediculous for a workout. I mean I usually run 1:20's, 46, and 26 for 500's, 300's, and 200's in practice!

Awesome workout! 800m is the hardest event there is! Let the distance pansies start whining about how easy the workout was. This is a premptive strike for the 5k,10k guys who will talk about how easy this was. You have to have straight up speed, endurance, and mental skills to run the 800. Sprints get their own lane no tactics just go fast( speed). The best distance runners sit and kick off the work of others (endurance, and tactics). Hard to do in only 800m. Not to mention 400 guys can move up and 1500 guys can move down to make everything very interesting.

I can lay claim to beating Abrihim Hussein (winner of the Boston marathon) several times, but they were 800 workouts, anything else I was sucking air after 3 minutes watching him get smaller and smaller as he got farther and farther away.

With the race coming so soon all the real work has already been done. There's no point in killing yourself in a workout with only a week until the race. This is just to stay fresh, and they looked smooth.

I'm a freshman at LSU. You're right, I couldn't run with them for 200 of that 500. Still, 65.9 for 500 is 1:45 800 pace. The workout totals to 1300m. Seems like pretty quick to me considering the collegiate indoor record for 500 is 60.82, and these guys were just 5 seconds slower and looked smooth.

with championships around the corner, no need to do something heavy and intense. for these guys and gals this should have been enough to tax their system but mainly just enough to keep them sharp.

good workout though, everyone looks pretty smooth.

I really enjoy seeing different teams and groups workout--I learn a lot each time and seeing similarities confirms that certain exercises or drills work. I don't like reading comments from viewers who criticize a workout despite the fact that it has produced results for the runners involved and for numerous runners under the mentorship of that particular coach. I am here to learn and enjoy.
