I hope she keeps up the good work. I think she can make the team for the 2012 team for the US. She just has to have the want and goal to make it...

Thanks GT. She was SO close. Anyone know what her 400m split was?

GT   July 23 at 6:49am
With 3 Brits who've run under 2 mins this year and Yuliya Krevsun (world lead this year) in London's field she should have enough people to drag her around under 2.

Coaching Question - no rest after the 50 or 200 jog, straight into the next rep. The 50 or 200 is the rest. Not sure of the rest between the cutdowns, or between the sessions. I suspect there was a bit of easy running (probably at faster than my race pace!) both before and after the session.

Hard luck with Maggie not breaking 2min again at Gent and definitely pretty emotional for her to throw down the F BOMB in the race coverage. This was a cool WOW and enjoyed the sound bytes within the workout. Hope that she can get the standard so she can represent the US at Worlds!

Coaching Question   July 22 at 4:09pm
if anyone can help shed some light on this workout that would be great. I coach swimming but like to look at track workouts from time to time. So..... on each set does she take any rest after the 50m or 200m jog? Or does she begin the next repeat once she is back at the starting line?
Finally..... is this the whole workout for the day or was there any other aerobic work (ie easy run) after the three sets.

If you watch the Ghent meet, you'll see why the 200s she does are effective. Misses sub 2:00 by 5/100th !

Awesome video! The bike is a nice touch and takes some serious coordination to keep her in the frame while pedaling. You can tell you guys have a pretty good relationship because she is comfortable being silly. You don't usually get to see the athlete's personality in the interviews. Again great job guys.

Sprinter,
I hope all of your knowledge of Seb Coe isn't gained from a cartoon television program. In addition, I don't know what the founding of the United States has to do with running at all. You should try to learn a little more about spelling and grammar before you bring up education in an argument. Back to the main point, repeat 200s are a common workout for most 800 runners as well as milers. I happen to do quite a few of them myself.

I really like this workout. She shows that even the pros do the basic workouts most of us high school runners do. I think it's okay to not have a partner. Asics had a great blog a few weeks ago about finding a running partner. It is hard to find one because you want one who can keep your pace, not complain during a hard workout, etc. I think she's going to do great in Paris, she just needs to concentrate and try hard. I think if she keeps up the way she runs, she will definitely be ready for the Olympics in 2012.
