I"m glad you (why y'all hating) posted your feelings here. Because you just cut your own throat. There are plenty of top American runners out there to seek out. Unfortunately some coaches won't do that. Look at Zac Edwards. As a freshman at Alabama last year he made the All freshman team at the SEC cross country championships with his 29th place (sixth on the team) finish. But guess what? with six Kenyans on full scholarship there is no room for a talented American. He promptly went to South Alabama and ran 13:56. He got 20th at the Pre NCAA (white) race in 24:08.9. Guess what, again? His time bettered all but ONE of the Alabama Kenyans from the blue race. Julius Bor was #2 for them in 24:09.7. How does that fit your theory? People with your (uninformed) attitude are part of the problem. But then folks like you never contended for conference or NCAA titles only to have them snatched away by some 26 year old Kenyan. Why don't you get real.

Unless you are willing to pay the man's bills and take care of his family, shut the hell up. Because a lack of results and piss poor performances will equal a pink slip at the end of the year!!! These coaches got a job to do, and if they can get a talented American distance runner then I believe they will go after them. These coaches don't have time to develop a 5 minute miler or a 50 minute 10k kid...be for real. Getting these good keyans is no different than Oregon getting the top 10 American distance kids. So fall back and enjoy the ride!!!

hey,have been reading this kind of tread and its like there is an assumption that it is all a kenyan issue.b4 u speak look at tha entire ncaa how many foreigners are there.unless u meant race but if it is to do with foreigner. then from Australia to Europe are well represented. After all America is made up of immigrats trying hard to block those who are trying to joint them. look back at your family and u will realize that it could be less than 8 generation America. be open

Americans should just be faster.

The American runners are fast enough. Having them get faster won't solve the problem. It was because of LAZY ncaa coaches who either did not want to or could not compete with the successful programs, that the advent of 'instant teams" , i.e. Kenyan imports began to proliferate. Now, people like you expect these 18-21 year old Americans to compete against seasoned 24 and 25 (and up?!) year old Kenyan runners of unknown pedigree. The problem is not with the American runners who are trying their best, but the problem is with attitudes like yours who enable/encourage this type of influx. These championships (conference, ncaa, etc...) have been the dreams of such kids and who have striven for such their whole lives only to have them plucked from their grasps by the Kenyan/east Africans who, in a much similar way, were plucked from their homelands only to
do the bidding of their ambitious "coaches" longing for acceptance among their NCAA coaching peers. What do these older runners know/care about their new school's and conference's traditions? What do these awards mean to some young adult who probably, previously, was (had) attending (attended) some college in Kenya before their new life called from the other end of some college coach's phone? I'll tell you what it means to the American kids, EVERYTHING! There are plenty of venues for these older runners to showcase their talents and the NCAA shouldn't be their bully playground. I will be cheering for Oregon, Colorado, Minnessota, Stanford, etc....

Why does the NCAA issue a directive on their own site that warns about ANY documents coming from Kenya and that they should be highly suspect. Look at the UTEP site and you will see Kenyans on the team who are 4-5 years older than their American (or otherwise) counterparts. Is this fair? These kinds of things sound like a coach who is either out of ideas or who didn't have any to begin with. How many Kenyans on Oregon or Stanford's team?

International students bring great diversity to our country and our colleges. At the college level, it's all about being the best. This is not elementary school. The Kenyans have proven to be not only wonderful runners, but terrific people. Get over it! Welcome, Kenyans!

I'm not really impressed at all...sounds like he guys gives them tickets over and lets them (they kenyans) train/race as they please. Could be wrong but that's the impression I'm getting.
