Kota actually stole my moniker from previous posts - he must have liked the way it looked. I've now set up my screen name to read pugetsoundhound, so I think Kota cannot use it anymore. When you guys were saying Kota, I thought it was email abbreviation for Kiss On The .....lol.

I love Flotrack because of interviews just like this. You capture so much content through your questions, yet bring us as viewers the sincerity of these athletes. Thanks for not cutting our her question, "are you still recording?"

I'll say it right here right now, Jenny Barringer is the future of female distance running in the U. S. and the world. I see the day when a woman will break the four minute mile barrier, and she is the bridge to that barrier, not yet but pobably in the next twenty years.

What's great about her interviews is that she is so comfortable in front of the camera. Maybe she'll consider being a T&F;commentator..

My original comments got deleted when you put up the enhanced 5000 video, so I'll state them again. 1. Thanks for asking my question about her reaction at the finish. It's ironic to see a competitor perform as tough as any of the men and then show emotion like that at the end. 2. Jenny alluded to the unusual atmosphere the echoed the bulk of my original comments. What you don't really feel on the video is what was going on at track level. She's basically on her own, which make it easy to let up or get lost in terms of pace. But you could see the concentration as she wratcheted down. The race was towards the end of the meet, and atheletes and spectators were gathered near the track on the back straight - almost on the track - some were not watching the race and I swear their arms were in lane one as Jenny came by. Jenny keeps upping the pace. She then starts lapping runners as the the 5000m men and 4 x 400 folks are warming up in lanes two through five! That's concentration. After the race, the anti-prima dona gracefully spoke to everyone who approached her. Jenny B is the epitome of what our sport needs right now.

Jenny Barringer after 5k

Jenny B talks about her 5k, how excited she is, and what this means for the future. Her 15:01 broke the collegiate record (formerly Kim Smith at 15:14) and ranks as the #2 All-time indoor performance for an American woman.
