Regarding threshold running at 6min pace vs 5:40 pace...if you learn to do it, as he says, at 6min pace, doesn't that disincline you to do it at 5:40 pace, as your threshold becomes 6min pace? Or are other physiological factors, like more oxygen in the air down below, going to allow you to then run faster, even if your body learned to remove lactate at a certain speed? This has always been my question, and I don't think he really addresses it--just pushes it aside as not a concern. It's not clear why it's not a concern.

So true.....Altitude has little to do with it. It is all about the environment and teaching your body to accept more pain.
