Hot EPSOM salt baths are the best. i'd much rather take a hot salt bath after a long run or workout than an ice bath. Bill Rodgers mentions it in his book "Marathoning".

For those of you who haven't tried it pick up some epsom salt at the grocery store and pour 1/2 of a carton into a 1/3 filled tub of hot water. stir the water to make sure the salt dissolves. get in for 12-15 mins. massage your calves/glutes/hammys under the water while you're in there. you will feel very relaxed and in my opinion, you will bounce back faster from hard/long efforts. magnesium will stimulate muscle recovery while the hot water will promote blood flow to the region.
