This is why American distance runners arent as good as Africans all we do is sit around and whine. Be happy for him and chill out, Im pretty sure over there they arent complaining about how no one interviewed Hall, There just focused on there countrys runners, so why dont we have pride in our own!

that reporter doesn't realize that in the days of Beardsley, Rodgers etc there were no africans racing at boston. the field is way deeper now than it was then.

Did Ryan really not know what dearth means? I'm hoping, for the sake of Stanford University, that this is not the case.

pThis site is obviously only for american distance running. There is no room for world wide running news at this site. Besides, it would be awkward to show some 5k race in Kenya with 5 guys running sub 13 minutes and then the Puma mile or something from America. You should thank Flotrack for that.

And it's a good thing that the Americans build up theyr runners, you have the power to do that, you even made Prefontaine (the daughter of Lasse Viren) look like he could compete with the best in the world.
But Ryan can definitely compete with the worlds best marathoners....
well maybe you could start up the site, go to kenya and post the vids... but for right now, considering that this is an AMERICAN site, the coverage is gonna be of AMERICANS... not that hard to put 2 and 2 together bro...

and fyi, Pre DID compete with the best in the world

PJ, perhaps when you place 3rd or higher in the Boston Marathon, you may be able to elevate the level of awareness, or of vocabulary during your press conference. Good Luck with that. Until then you're just a blogger who wishes you had half the talent of Mr. Hall. Let's be happy for today's achievements by American runners, and give accolades when they are deserved!

Wow...what a douchebag!!! Is it really that much of a crime to show more interest in your own country members doing well than in the Africans who always win. If you look to the right, you can see that the whole build up to Boston was focussed on Ryan and Kara, not the Africans.
Oh im sorry for been a douchebag.

"Dearth": an inadequate supply; scarcity; lack.
As in a dearth of awareness of average vocabulary.

I enjoyed watching this interview, and enjoyed watching the pre race training and interviews with Ryan and Kara. We are lucky to have two such good runners and good sportsmen in the USA.

Did the interviewers ask questions to the other athletes at the head table?

Hey Flotrack, why no mention of Merga and Rono? You know, the two African runners who kicked Hall's butt? They just don't matter I guess.
American distance running is pathetic, and Africa will continue to dominate.
