It was hard not to award the kick of the week to Brett Blanshan and his Selah 4x100 team in the Finals at the WA State meet so definitely check this one out too....

Bottom line, If you got cameramen saying Becca Friday should've got kick of the week, then she should've gotten it, period

2A schools are rather small and the state records got re vamped a little while back. This may explain the time

What kind of 4x1 race past the middle school level consists of mostly white dudes? Especially at a state meet.

I am in agreement with 2a runnergirl. Becca Friday was amazing in the last 400m to take out 4 runners and win by a considerable margin. You may want to reconsider kick of the week. For those of you who haven't seen it, a race definately worth watching!

woa woa woa, what about Anna Willard's kick in the Reebok 800m? She came through 400 in 57.5 in 5th place and had the most bad-ass kick I've seen from a mid-distance woman in a while!

Has anyone noticed how many 800 runners are awarded a "kick of the week" does that say something about the 800. Could it possibly be the most exciting race on the track...hmmm?

I have a feeling that 800m kid's coach said give it everything you have at the 200, and took that very literally. I love it. However, why did he have that much left? Why not use that for a fast 300 or even fast last lap? haha

MikeyB continues to forget we don't have rights to the races covered by the big networks (i.e. Carson, RBK Grand Prix, Pre, NCAAs, USAs, IAAF, etc....)

One day man, just not right now

I'm still going to say that Becca Friday's was the most impressive kick I've seen. 5th place and 30m back to winning by 20m is unheard of

Ryan: It is a great kick, but they jog an 83 first 400m playing right into that girls strength. Anyway, a lot of folks in our community who haven't ever looked at Flotrack before, did this week. "Kick of the Week" is a great way to promote track & field. Let the opinions fly.

Yeah, there definitely were, and the viewers seem to be exceptionally opinionated this week as well. Tough call. That girls 1600 from Washington IS sick. Can't go un-noted.

I personally think that the kick of the week should go to David Wottle every week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LHid-nC45k&feature;=

And did you guys happen to catch Reebok Grand Prix? Khadevis was amazing down the homestretch. He outkicked Gary Reed - a feat I didn't think possible by the old guy.

Kick of the Week (June 1)

We live in a democracy right? So with the being said.....the people have spoken and we have listened. This week's Kick of the Week comes from the Illinois State Meet in the Boys 1A 800 Final.

It was best said by Patrick McHugh:
“I would say the 800m is kick of the week because the top 3 guys all ran great and broke Zach Glavash's state record. Peter, though, finishes like no one I have ever seen outsied of maybe Wheating or Wottle. Given the way all the guys ran, the stakes on the line, the fact that 3 guys broke the state record, and the way Peter finished -- this should be the kick of the week. Thanks for considering it.”

Congrats to Peter Callahan for this week's Kick of the Week! Watch Peter's full race HERE

Thanks to Dan Knewitz for the coverage!
