Jenny Berringer is an amazing collegiate runner, there's no doubt about that. But to call her the female Pre is a big overstatement. I've heard the same thing said about Shalane Flanagan, and in her case it might be closer to being true. But Berringer, no. Pre had every AR from 3k to 10k at one point. Berringer has only one and it's in a relatively new event. Remember that there has only been one olympics with a women's steeple meaning that that interest level isn't what it is for other events. In another decade the event will be about as legit as any other, but for now it's still "new." I hope the media doesn't overplay it like they did the women's pole vault when it was a new event.

But run a sub-4 for 1,500m you're world class for sure!
