Watch out for next year Anonymous Coward like you are. Issac Ogunlade has one more year with Reggie Reed. And Plus the JR. Speedsters have been through a lot especially having a (CAR WRECK) on the way to regionals in Houston leaving Reggie Reed Hurt and Kennedy Daughtery hurt, P.S. Reggie didn't even run at Nationals because of the wreckand Issac's hamstring wasen't 100% and Kennedy had back problems everytime he ran. so that explains it but check out Kennedy in the 400 Hurdles in North Carolina, 2nd with a 52.68 and Jr. Speedsters 4x8, 4th at U.S.A and 3rd in A.A.U and with a season best time of 7.54.xx at Regionals in Houston with a sprained hamstring on last leg Issac Ogunlade. The Desoto 4x4 runs for two summer track clubs. They run for the Lancaster Lightning in USATF and for the Desoto Road Runners in AAU. They ran a hand time 3:13.97 with the Lancaster Lightning at the USATF regional meet in Houton last weekend. It should have been a 3:14.25 FAT. They placed 4th behind 3 all-star teams: Track Houston, Hallmark, and Wings. They were actually leading the race at one point in the last curve on the 3rd leg. Their anchor leg D'Odrick Sykes is still not back to 100% from being hurt in Waco. He got the stick in 2nd right behind Track Houston and got caught by Hallmark and Wings. He only split 50.3. If he would have split 48.3, they would have got 2nd and made it to Nationals. Here are the splits:
Christian Rolls - 48.3,
Eric Caro - 46.7,
Marcus Stafford - 48.5,
D'Odrick Sykes - 50.3
Hallmark placed 2nd with a 3:12.5 FAT. Lancaster Lightning ran 3:14.2, with a 50.3 on the anchor leg. If D'Odrick splits 48.3 (he has ran 48.6 out of the blocks in the open 400), do the math. That would have been a 3:12.2 and they get 2nd. Good job to the Desoto kids. D'Odrick's injury cost them again, but I am still proud of them the way they took it to those all-star teams. It was a hell of race. They still made it to Nationals in the 4x4 in AAU. So, hopefully D'Odrick will be ready by then to show their true potential.

I got Torin around a high 47 low 48 Split at State where are you getting your LOW 46, he ran last leg for Allen in the Navy Blue so what you have to do is estimate at least 10 meters from when he got the baton from Allens 3rd leg behind when westfield got, then start the clock the stop it at the finish line.

Old Man   June 10 at 10:35am
Cameron Horace of 2A Corrigan Camden again ran the fastest split of all classes. Last year, his 46.9 split tied him with the Pflugerville anchor for the fastest split. His 45.83 split Friday night was tops in 2009. Allen's Torin Crowder ran a low 46 split in the 5A finals. Due to the video I could not time his split.
Nathan Collier of 2A Pottsboro won the 3200 meter Friday morning and Friday evening he won the 1600 meters and 15 minutes later he ran a 49.7 split on the 2nd place 1600 meter relay team.
All these 4A and 5A kids specialize and the small school kids play football, basketball and play baseball. You would see more of these types of small school performances if we had an extra 3 week of prep each year.

Okay here we go again........just drop it. It is what it is and it appears there were some on both teams that weren't at their best, healthy wise. And some don't even run the 400. So, let it go, because we all have some "what if's", but the fact remains, "what is", and that is Spring Westfield boys are 2009 UIL High School State Champions. Suck it up; what happened yesterday, happened and there's not a thing you can do about it.

Hey Duncanville, give the Eastern Hills guy a break. He was just speaking up for the Dallas area teams and reacted when the HTown Fan said we were making excuses. Up until that time, everyone from our area gave props to Spring Westfield and only said that things MAY have been different. I find it hard to believe that someone would say that Desoto in Regional's being without their 2nd fastest leg that got hurt in the 400 final, is making excuses. Especially after Westfield barely edged them out when they had a back-up runner who is 2 seconds slower than D'odrick Sykes on the anchor leg, and especially since Desoto had beaten them every time before at the TSU Relays, Texas Relays, and prelims at Regional's. In all sports, if you don't beat everyone (Duncanville) and everyone at their best (Desoto), the question 'what-if' always come up. It's no excuse and no disrespect for the winner. It's just reality. Again, Spring Westfield IS the state champ in the 4x4. No one is trying to take away the credit from Spring Westfiled that they rightfully deserve.

It's all good; I have seen better times in state also; I believe the best I've seen in a minute was in 2005 Ft Bend Marshall boys ran 3:10 , and understand that all of Westfield boys were not fully healthy either. The anchor leg for Westfield was Terrell Guidry, who was hurt during the district and regional meet. Good luck to all summer track athletes.

Bert   June 8 at 2:50pm
Agreed with, It seems since 07 it has been 2 seconds slower each year, shoot the winning time might be 3:17 next year lol. But I dont think for the next 5 years anybody is going to match up with 2007 Desoto's 3:11 this was perhaps the year for somebody to do it or even break it but with injuries and the 7 boys who got suspended at Duncanville it has been a dissapointing season BUT I am or will not take any credit away from Spring Westfield they are the State 5A 4X4 Champs and there 4th Leg was AMAZING!

Anonymous Coward   June 8 at 2:26pm
No, you're the joke and apparently don't know what you're talking about. Of course Dallas summer track will run faster, because they don't likely consist of the original high school runners; they're mixed with whomever they can pull. They may have someone from Houston running on their team. Again, it is what it is.

#1 4X4 Fan   June 8 at 1:27pm
First and foremost, for the record no one from the Dallas Metroplex is trying to diminish the accomplishments of Spring Westfield's 4x4. What you have to understand is that everyone from the Dallas area knows what Desoto and Duncanville were capable of doing. The injury bug killed Desoto and the suspensions killed Duncanville. Duncanville's Kennedy Daugherty ran closer to this year's 400 meter state champ Kyle Clemmons and came closer to beating him than anybody all season. And, he would have had some help, which included Isaac Ogunlade. Now, Spring Westfield saw Desoto at the TSU Relays, Texas Relays, and Regional's. Each time Desoto was not at full strength. At the TSU Relays, they did not have their 3rd leg. They placed 2nd. At the Texas Relays, Desoto had the fastest time going into the finals. In the finals, the 2nd leg Eric Caro actually limped the first curve and still managed to split 49.0 with a hurting hammy. Being their fastest runner, this hurt Desoto in the finals at the Texas Relays. They placed 3rd. They still beat Westfield on both occasions. Now on to Regional’s. Desoto had the fastest time going into the finals, beating Westfield in the prelims. Desoto's anchor leg, D'Odrick Sykes, was having problems with one of his legs before the 4x4 prelims. Looking back, he should not have ran the 4x4 prelim or 400 final. He hurt his leg in the finals in which he barely finished the race. Without D'Odrick, Desoto still almost won the race due to Eric Caro's blistering 2nd leg. If you were there, you should have seen it. Desoto’s 3rd leg went out too hard. He was trying to open up the lead that Eric Caro gave him and give the alternate on the anchor leg a bigger lead. He ended up tying up and getting caught. This cost them the race more than anything. Still, Westfield just barely edged them out. Now, we are all assuming that Terrell Guidry did not run that day. And if so, both teams were without one of their top guns. With all that said, it would have been great to have seen Desoto, Duncanville, Spring Westfield, and Conroe all at full strength in the same race. But, with the way Texas qualifies for the State Meet, it would have not been possible anyway. Again, no disrespect for Spring Westfield. They did what they had to do when it counted and they deserve to be the state champs. It just hurts that neither Duncanville nor Desoto had the chance to show their true worth..

Congratulations to Spring Westfield and Terrell Guidry. Being old school, my hat is always off to a sprinter that runs on the 4x400 Meter Relay. However, that was not Goodwin that he caught on the 4x1 at the Texas Relays. It was the 400 meter champ Kyle Clemmons. Also, Desoto had an alternate on anchor leg at Regional’s in Waco. He ran even with Westfield's anchor and crossed the finish line with Spring Westfield’s anchor leg. I am assuming that Terrell was not the same anchor leg in Waco. As we saw in Waco, Desoto would have been up there with Conroe and Spring Westfield. They were right there in Regional's with an alternate on anchor. If the anchor leg for Desoto would have been healthy and ran, they probably would have won Regional’s. He got hurt in the 400 meter final. This just proves that our qualifying system for state is crap. We are the only state that qualify the top two at Regional’s for the State Meet and don't run prelims. Desoto, Conroe, and Spring Westfield all should have been at the State Meet. I would love to have seen Terrell, Conroe's 3rd leg and Desoto's 2nd leg Eric Caro all on anchor leg together. Those that were in Waco and that saw Eric Caro on 2nd leg go from 10 meters back in 3rd to 1st and put 5 meters on the field, you know what I am talking about. And as you can see, Conroe’s 3rd leg is a beast also. Oh well, good job Westfield and Conroe.
