oh please said:
his territory, please man you barely broke 4 on a downhill mile, german (a college athlete) can break that on a flat surface mile. Now imagine what he would get on a downhill mile and he is no professional. So please David stop bragging on your 3:59 downhill mile, thats not too special now n days.
Mile (track): German 3:55, Torrence 3:57
3k (track): German 7:48, Torrence 7:51

pretty close in PRs and torrence ran 3:48 on a true downhill mile. you think they would have a $10k bonus for a sub-4 run at the road mile champs if it was going to be easy?? Shannon had to run 4:28 for her bonus and she's one of the best in the world, she only ran 4:32. so chill and go hate somewhere else.

He may come off a bit arrogant, but I guarantee that most top runners are the same way they just don't talk like Torrence does on camera. He is real seems like he isn't scared to put his thoughts out for everyone to hear.

senaldi,
Why would El G stick around for a few more years. He accomplished everything there is to accomplish in track and field. And check your history, he moved up in distance to the 5k and won gold.

Nice to hear someone say that you have to go into the race no matter who it against knowing that you will give it your all. Step up to the line thinking that you can't win you won't. Though he does come off y, but it works eh.

Good to hear him speak with confidence. You should never try winning anything if you have doubt in your abilities. Words of "i hope, or maybe" don't give you confidence to win. For those of you that don't know what it's like to have a strong, winning attitude, stay off the keyboards! I hope to see more of David Torrence interviews before he races.

whats el G been up to lately? can he even break 5 minutes for a mile anymore? he should have stuck around the racing scene for a few more years...at least moved up in distance.

If I'm looking at the right results, I believe that a 4:09 is the fastest time that has been run for this mile since 2006. Likewise, the preview says it'll be hard to break 4 on that course. Is this field supposed to be significantly better than in years past? Bigger purse?

This guy is a jerk. i met him once after a meet and all he did was talk about himself. Because he's running @ this level he should be less y and more humble. A lot of young athletes probably look up to him and he should act responsibly and respectfully. Not like a y jerk

This is what track needs, none of this "I'm gonna go out there, give a good effort and see what happens..." crap. He's making a statement that he wants to win. I'm fired up about this and I don't care if he ends up getting last, he's speaking his mind and I like it.

he's not saying he'll beat webb. he's talking about the mindset you need to have going into a race with the top guys. (plus webb isn't in the race) if you count yourself out in the beginning then why you racing?? before the olympic trials would anyone have guessed that will leer would beat alan webb? no, but it happened. anything can happen on any day and you have to be ready for it.

and david torrence has broken 4 about five times, his PR of 3:57 was 2 weeks ago
