I've never heard of being DQ'd for unsportsmanlike conduct. The only reason anyone should be DQ'd is for cheating / physical impedence. He celebrated early but he held his ground and didn't interfere with anyone.

unsportsmanlike, he definitely taunted the other runners, but not nearly worthy of a DQ

Danny Mackey   May 12, 2009 at 7:02pm
He should not have been DQ'ed for that.

Ryan Sterner   May 12, 2009 at 10:35am
He's having fun, leave the guy alone.

We can't all have that Kenyan-like demeanor.

Stop hating on him because he clowned the rest of the field. He shouldn't have celebrated like that, but it wasn't over the top or degrading another team in any way. Stop hating.

Don't worry guys. Wyner got DQ'ed on purpose. It's all part of the plan.

He should be DQ'd for that awful looking kick. What the hell was he doing with his arms? S

ame guy who redshirted to try to make the Olympic team, right? He deserves this DQ for being an overall douche.

Do I think he deserved the DQ...absolutely not. Do I feel sorry for him...absolutely not. Does stuff like this make track exciting...absolutely. Part of the entertainment of other sports is hating on athletes so I guess Wyner is just sparking some interest into Ivy League track.

he was pacing the race, he looks at his watch and trying to run 60s. he wanted to keep it honest for maags sake. after 900 he tried to step out and signaled but slowed down to early. just an honest mistake, and luckily id didnt effect the race

I say we need to assassinate all the "Good Old Boys" tyrannically officiating the sport to the degree that any amount of emotion or drama is immediately attacked.

An NCAA wide reciever can catch a touchdown pass, take off his pants, put them on his head, and then do a polka jig and the 6 points will still stand. The team will have to kickoff from farther back, but the act he completed before the celebration will still stand.
To take away someone's race for something like this is absolutely absurd and is just a small part of the greater problem of U.S. interest in track and field.
The celebration before was stupid but the way he bowed toward the booing fans? That right there is entertaining stuff and the fact that he was DQ'd for it absolutely disgusts me.

He doesn't deserve a DQ, just a swift kick in his recently descended balls. I mean really, what a childish douchebag. Further proof money can't buy class

If they DQ him for that they need to go back to school. Who do they think they are. Probably some fat XXX that had sore feet. GET REAL! LOL

DQ did not make any sense at all. Celebrating I can understand and the booing was simply classless by the crowd. Maag was beaten by Wyner and that is it period end of sentence. Pushing is part of the game at this level

Haha   May 10, 2009 at 7:15pm
Zero class? Come on now, how exactly can you justify a 5th year senior celibrating his first League Title as classless. Maybe he is a douche, I wouldn't know, but the one stick was fun and there were no grounds for a DQ in that race.

the crowd turned against him in seconds. what a wierd. who does that? wait for a race a lot more significant.

not allowed to have fun in track. have to be serious and boring or you get DQ'd. track is for robots only.

What a nutty race. The leader falls and on the bell lap, chaos! Wyner did not deserve a DQ. Can you really take away a victory over that? What a shame. These guys are all adults -- should he have toned it down? Maybe. But when you're running your heart out, logical thoughts don't always prevail. He didn't appear to get in anyones face. A couple hand gestures and a bow. Did the punishment fit the crime?

Seeing the interview and the race, it's extremely stupid that he got disqualified. He bowed after the booed him and the putting out of his arms was nothing crossing the line. Some runners need to shut up. Nobody watches running, so lets have some kind of fun with it and maybe people will watch it. Ryan Hall celebrated for minutes before he won the trials. Yet everyone was ok with it. Well, I was ok with it.
