Lagat is an awesome runner but Bekele is the best ever. So, unfortunately for Lagat, he has to settle for Silver

Great Job Bernard!! It was an awesome race to watch. I love the positive attitude.

I'm thinking he's going to prove something next year. He's finished second to two of the greatest long distance/mid distance runners (Bekele/Hicham El Geroujj). His time is still coming. He's going to do something big.

I agree with this. Don't tell Bernard Lagat how to pass or not pass somebody. I'm certain he is an expert on the matter.

The funny thing is, she actually had a legitimate opening. Berke felt her coming and moved ever so slightly left just as the Spaniard hit the hole. If their size difference were reversed, and Berke were much bigger than the Spaniard, the Spaniard would have been sprawled on the infield and Berke would have been DQ'd. That is the facts!
I bet she wouldn't try that in the 800. She pushed her war through because she was bigger.

lagats passing of bekele wasnt decisive. when u pass somebody, u gotta really pass them. u want to defeat them psychologically. lagat simply didnt have the strength to pass decisively. same as in athens 1500m final defeat to el guerouj
The next time you pass Bekele in the homestretch at the World Championships, report back, and we'll determine how valid that staement is.

A GOOD AMERICAN   August 23 at 4:48pm
Kenyan / Kenyan American, he is running for us. We are proud of him. We all came from different places. He is a great role model along with our other amazing 5k guys. We are getting there!

I am proud to watch him represent us! I just wish a was a minute and ten seconds faster at 5000m, so I could hang near him today! HAHA ... In my dreams!!! I go one speed, no kick!!! But watchin him makes me wanna be better!

@bad: 'decisively' passing bekele isn't a good idea. as bekele has repeatedly demonstrated, there is no good way to pass him, as he can match you at any speed and then drop a kick from it

He's such a great guy, heads always high and a good role model as well. He still has more to come, I can't wait he makes races so exciting. Great Job USA!

I saw it LIVE, and I can't believe she didn't realize that she had done something wrong. Totally blatant!! The woman must be clueless!
