Mr. Wickens is also a director of the USA Track & Field Foundation. The Foundation does great work - youth club grants, elite athlete grants, a mentor program for athletes who will be finishing their sports careers and moving into the "real world." Here's the website - http://www.usatffoundation.org.

I think a great idea would be to do a reality series on running, in the same mold as the UFC Ultimate Fighter. Rather than weight classess, have distance and sprinting groups. Invite athletes that don't yet have sponsorships to train and compete against each other for a sponsorship. Maybe use both head-to-head and combined race formats. By the end of the series the winner must achieve a minimum time standard (ie. B standard) and have the most overall scoring points in the various races. Just a thought, but I'd watch it.
Love your creativity! Yes, there's a big untapped opportunity to bring stories, competitions, and other content to cable TV. I'll put this in my idea bag :)

This is the kind of guy we need on the board. He is willing to try new things to get people energized about our sport and seems to have some decent ideas. Keep up the good work Mr. Wickens.

Sincerely a devoted track fan

This is great - thank you. It's great to know that there we have people like this driving our sport!! Mr. Wickens, our little town running association has a summer youth track series - 500 kids are showing up every week! It's free for participants and it's run by volunteers from the running club. I think the parents are interested in the health benefits of track and that's what brings them out. Thank you for what you're doing.
