please do not take lol's comments as the way Texans are...in fact, he should be ashamed of himself...he does not speak for this state. Texas high schools take a lot of pride in our track and field, and our results usually show. We are huge geographically and have a high number of participants in track...and behind football, it is the second most popular sport in the state. Other state may not be like this. We also have pretty good weather to train and compete in, which is not the case in most states.

I apologize for his/her comments, and don't judge the entire state for one idiot...I'm sure all states have their fair share...
And to Devlan, it is common to find many 14 year-olds who can high jump 6 feet, especially in the bigger schools. I'm not bragging, just stating a fact, because I don't want an argument to blow up here comparing the two states.
