Letsrun has a quote from AC's qualification standards that says mile conversion ARE accepted for 1500m. Either that document is old or Nate is mistaken. There is certainly confusion and frustration on the part of the athletes...very unfortunate.

Hopefully, after the interview with Hillary Stellingwerf, ryan caught up to Nate to tell him about Barcelona's 1500m race. I REALLY hope this guy gets to worlds. How could AC even fathom NOT sending a top-12 (or he may actually be top-10 right now) athlete to the world champs?! that's worse than USATF!

Yes I Understand that a good portion of the worlds fastest runners are from USA but it is completely unfair that he is so close and has a very good opportunity at getting a medal at worlds. Athletics Canada gives canadian the hardest standards and making them run it 3 times where in the states they just have to run in their qualifiers. Unfair.
SEND NATE TO BERLIN!!!

I've been sweating every time Nate's run a mile this year. How about a 3:50.27 in London ;-)

As a Canadian I also agree athletics canada is f***en ridiculus. What are they thinking he is one the of the best runners in the world right now.. and athletics canada needs to get there head out of there a**.

totally agreed. AC is so stubborn, and definitely a reason in the lacking of Canadians reaching the podium at world class events. Hopefully a change comes soon- runners like Nate are well overdue for one.

another prime example of the idots running athletics canada and the mountains they make athletes climb. They would rather send 10 people and not risk losing sport canada funding. I think Goulet and the rest of the gang are disgraceful and should be embarressed. Lets start putting the athletes first and stop sending these guys to wine and dine all over the world when incredible performers like nate are left chasing a standard, not being able to relax and prepare to for world's like most of his competition. Same old story with athletics canada, same old crew running the show, same sad stories from athletes having IAAF standards, but not the high almighty canadian standards. Just my thoughts, I would love to hear feedback as I am sre most of the candians will have lots to say here. Cheers.

As a Canadian I'm emabarassed that we haven't already stamped this marvelous runner's ticket. Heck, the prime minister should be giving him a ride and bringing him water. Not taking converted mile times?...stone ages.
Hope it works out for Nate. While we're hoping, maybe a few of the old boys with Athletics canada will choke on struedel in Berlin and we can replace them with someone with a clue.

I hope he gets the A. Would be unfortunate if he didn't make it to Worlds.
