"Dislike", you have no basis whatsoever for claiming that Maggie V. has worked harder than Geena Gall. I don't necessarily get a warm and fuzzy vibe from Gall either, but I respect her so much -- you only have to see a few of her races to appreciate that she's super-fit, smart in tactical races, and tough as h***. And I'm glad she has the confidence to go up against any athlete in the world -- that's what's gonna get her to the final (and, eventually, on the podium) at Worlds, and that's what's gonna raise the level of U.S. running.

From what I have seen of Geena's races, she puts everything that she has into her races. She definitely has the desire to go under 2. She may be thinking too hard about that goal and perhaps is not running relaxed enough.

Raced Against Geena Myself   July 20 at 11:40pm

for some reason i don't like this girl she's kinda over confident. i hope maggie gets the A standard so she can go cuz she deserves it and has clearly worked a lot harder than this girl. she'll still get to go but i don't see geena making it out the first round.
There's no need to knock anyone. Anyone who is running low 2.00 consistently has obviously worked hard. Look at her stats from this season, and they are very respectable. The 800m is a very tactical race, and the final time depends on the race that was run. This year is a weak year in the 800, so who is to say who will do what. I have raced against Geena plenty of times, and she is good for a tough run, and that counts for a lot.

The shame here is that Clark is going no matter what. The best 800m runner for the US right now is Willard, with Vessey on her heels and then Gall. Clark won't get out of the first round, based on her DFL in Paris!

Gall Is Guaranteed A Spot   July 19 at 1:37pm
Geena Gall is GUARANTEED a spot on the USA team in Berlin. If only one runner gets the A Standard, then only 1 B standard gets to go (i.e., Geena Gall).

Phoebe Wright is NOT guaranteed a spot on the team because she only has the B standard (and only 1 B standard gets to go).
The only way Phoebe Wright gets to go to worls is if one of two things happen:
1. Geena Gall gets the A Standard - then Phoebe Wright's B standard gets her in (2 A's and 1 B can go)
2. Phoebe Wright gets the A Standard - then we have the 2 A's and 1 B scenario)
If Maggie Vessey gets the A standard and neither Geena Gall OR Phoebe Wright get the A...then Maggie will go to worlds and Phoebe Wright will not (again - we then have the 2 A's and 1 B Standard)

2:01 won't help her running rounds at Worlds unless she or Phoebe Wright runs sub-2 first.
