I really hope to be able to use track as an avenue to do some of the same things KD uses it for. Him and Coach Gray inspire me everyday to run and get the most out my talent and potential as possible.

A great speech from a person who is a professional of the sport, and to let others know that even the best are human by being nervous. And also to compare the sport to life, because not all professionals will compete in athletics professionally forever.

Black Distance Runner   August 31 at 7:01am
I hope this post isn't taken out of context, but KD has specifically been an amazing inspiration to African American distance runners like myself. As crazy as it may sound, many AA youth are discouraged from running distance and are literally either A. Told to quit the track team because their too slow for the 4x100 relay squad or B. Simply schooled in an urban environment that has no resources, coaches, or general knowledge about distance training or competition. Every time I see KD run or listen to him speak, it reminds me of how many other talented AA kids are walking the streets idly, venturing into crime with other talented kids who could be running and preparing for college--probably on scholarship. I sincerely hope he writes a book one day, not simply chronicling his life as a runner, but showing other kids who look like him and come from similar backgrounds as himself that anything is possible when you use untapped talent. Running has given him this platform upon which his message can be launched.

KD talks about athletes planning for life after track

There are many athletes out there, but not all of them plan for life after athletics. When their careers end, they have a hard time transitioning into the "real world". Khadevis Robinson learned early in his career why it is important to have a balance in his life. KD talks about the journey and how he is setting himself up for life after track.
