I mean, this is kinda cool, but can we get a workout that is a little more interesting like something with the sprinters, or at least with an athlete that is somewhat popular and has a chance of even making the finals like Walter Dix, or Mike Rodgers or Nick Symmonds or something?

David Stiles   August 6 at 12:51pm
He should have sped up at the start of the 800 and scared that kid so he would know to stay out of lane one lol

How can you tell if someone has raw speed or not? Can't Dan run 3:40 in the 1500? The top American steeplers can all run well on the flat, you just never see them run them because they are focusing on the chase.

Zachary, you are the last person on here that needs to tell someone they are being negative. Every time I come on here you have something negative to say about someone trying to give constructive criticism. I know you are pretty young, so you come from the time when everyone on the team got a trophy and the coaches never talked poorly about an athletes performance. But sometimes when people, like the Realist, give their opinion, things sometimes change. Slowly, but when others see the flaw, things change. So Zachary, stop being the real fool and let others give an honest comment. It is an open comment board. Are you really Zachary Fitzgerald or did you steal his identity?

Realist   August 5 at 9:14pm
No, Zachary Fitzgerald I do not hold a pr of 8:20. I'm finished with my career and I am not an American but currently reside in the states. You have all heard of me which is why I am concealing my identity. I am not an American and it is not my responsibility to make changes in YOUR country. Where I'm from the athletes that exhibit the MOST kinesthetic intelligence are thrown into the Steeple (those that excel at multiple events/previous sucesses in other sports/etc). No one can deny that the U.S. is weak in the steeple. They are making great strides in other events granted.

It's Miami University, not "the Miami University." Miami was a university before Florida was a state.

Kyle, I like you as a runner. I think you run hard and are a good athlete. Like they say, "don't hate the player, hate the game." The "game" is the U.S. steeplechase system. Take athletes that don't have great 1500m ability and are average 5kers...through them in the steeplechase. Now you have to admit...this guys warm up looked PATHETIC. I was surprised that his form was even as decent as it was seeing his drills. Drills are by no means everything but they just seemed half hearted and amateur. And I still stand firmly that this guy does not have the speed to compete outside of the U.S. What does a lack of raw speed and poor coordination tell you? The person is lacking in kinesthetic intelliegence thus why he can't run the flat. The steeple shouldn't be a weaker even than any other. I love the steeple and want to see it get more respect from athletes.
Let me guess. 8:20 is your mile pr. What's pathetic is that anonymous cowards like you are allowed to post stuff that doesn't have anything positive in it even though the way you ended your post was a meager attempt to be positive. But you didn't fool anyone.

Why we suck at the steeplechase in the U.S. is shown right here. Guys that don't have the ability to run the flat take on the steeple here. Pathetic form drills, no raw speed, easy workouts.
Since when does someone being better mean you suck? Besides, whatever explanation you conjure up with that attitude wont be constructive.

Dan was actually 5th in the 5000 at the NCAA meet his senior year. And he says before the workout that its supposed to be easy.

FloEuro Workout With Dan Huling

Uploaded By: David Williams
Dan Huling earned multiple All American honors while competing for Miami University (OH). Dan has been running professionally since he graduated in 2007. In July he placed 2nd in the steeplechase at USA's, punching his ticket to the World Championships in Berlin. This will be Dan's first national team. He ran well at Monaco a few weeks ago setting a season best of 8:21, just shy of his PB of 8:20 that he set last year in Monaco.

Watch Dan and athletes from around the world get ready to compete at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin starting on Saturday, August 15th.
