Restraining Order Needed   July 18 at 9:09am
----------------------------------------------------------------
I exposed myself on letsrun and had no problem with it. They "grew some" & admitted they were wrong AND actually RESPONDED TO MY POINTS & FACTS.

Dear Hansons,
This ass clown admits to going from one message board to another just to bash you guys. It is most certainly an athlete that was not good enough to handle the work and wants to blame you guys.
1. Keep your heads up--and get a restraining order immediately.

Anonymous? You are, not me. You haven't listed anything but a name from a phone book that anyone could list. You should have just said Joe Blowhard from the Ocean, same thing (no proof). Riled up, not quite? It is better to remain silent and be thought the fool than to speak and remove all doubt. Words you should live by, dude.

I've got facts, as one poster admitted, you've got nothing. Good luck with that and I hope therapy goes well. I "truly" feel sorry for you. No logic on anything you've said, none. One person stepped up to the plate and agreed with me, but you stood alone babbling. Lighten up yourself and get over your own thoughts, they are wrong.

Thank you for pointing out the sarcasm that lies within my pointless post. Anonymous poster complaining about anonymous posters? How ironic. I agree, not everyone can do anything for various reasons. You left me so many questions to answer and so much time to think about how many people really care about what I said. Apparently you do.
Wrong, when you google a race and verify that Beardsley ran the times I listed, it's a fact. If you want to disprove it, go ahead. I've met Beardsley and he'd be glad to have you try and tell him that he DIDN'T run the races listed in the times that I listed. Good luck with that. Ryan Hall wasn't in Beijing, it was all a smoke screen, to fool everyone but you.

No, you proved my point, but whatever makes you feel good fella. It's your insecurity, not mine. You had nothing, I had facts. Good day.

Maybe the Hansons and many of their fans have different goals for the team. In order to judge whether or not the team is a success, you would have to know the goals.

I apologize, you did in fact prove one thing. It came across loud and clear that you will remain an anonymous coward who is not an insider.
If you only knew Sammy boy (45?), if you only knew. Fair enough though, believe what you will. I realize I was a little harsh on you and I sincerely apologize for that. I'm just a little more passionate in my beliefs because of my background. Call me what you will, a coward, a hotshot, or whatever, but it doesn't make it so. To me, it's clear as day, to you it's not. I could point out many, many more facts, but it's not gonna matter to you and the other poster in disagreement. Kevin said it, so you believe it. You're not listening to what's being said, but who's saying it. If Alberto said the opposite, then who would you back? I think for myself, although I did google a few facts to back up my memory. Believe me, if I was wrong on any of them, you guys would have ripped me to shreds.

Water under the bridge!
p.s. As far as judging a team's success and having to know the goals, you are incorrect. Kevin and Keith's goals are to get to the trials and be in the top 3. Getting Brian 3rd was an accomplishment of their goal, the Olympics.

Wow! A voice of reasoning has arisen! Thank You for responding and obviously understanding my post. I wasn't ripping Kevin, Keith, Don, or the program. They are really nice guys and I like them all, but facts are facts.

You'll never see a Ritz or Hall in the Hanson's Program, but only those with somewhat lesser ability. The main reason, but not the only reason, is simple. Money. Hansons can't pay what Nike can pay Dathan. If the Hanson's offered Dathan $500,000 per year and Nike offered him $100,00, who's program do you think he'd run for? Don't kid yourselves, money makes a difference.
Brian was the diamond in the rough of the program and I wouldn't count on that happening again anytime soon. Anyone ever wonder what Brian could have done if he had trained with faster runners or a different group? During hard, hard workouts, he was alone more often that not.
Even if Luke or Mike pulled out a 2:13 (doubtful, but possible for those 2) range marathon, they will still have a long way to go to get "down there" where it counts. Trent had the race of his life in 04' and just barely slipped under 2:13. I wish them well and hope someone comes into the program to take up where Brian left off. If not, it will be a bunch of 2:14-2:15 marathons for a long time. That will not get them a top 3 finish in the trials, which is the goal, so what's the point? They have to be in contention when the gun goes off and have times that truly compete with the top guys, not pr's that are 5 minutes behind over a 26 mile race. They can place 5-10th, but what does that do? I know, reality bites.
Again, even though you may not have been directly sticking up for me, THANKS!

Again, he's got ya beat, bigtime. He's probably a decent runner or he wouldn't be so to the point on everything, but I truly don't know one way or the other. Give it up Sam, trust me, he's winning.

No, I didn't help prove your point moron, you helped proved mine, over and over. Which club/groups are more sucessful? That's what I thought, no answer. Ritz and Hall are with their current respective groups because they have a bad business model and they are worried about their future with them......sure! You are demented and you'll never get it. Except for Brian, Dathan will make more in one year than all the other Hanson runners combined!!!! Numbers don't lie. Earth to Sam, earth to Sam, still not getting it???

Okay hot shot, I say that you are in fact no more an insider than anyone else. So spill it, who are you? I guarantee that you will remain anonymous and we all know why.
I never said that guys in Mammoth or OTC are not making more money than anyone in Hansons. That has nothing to do with a successful business model. When Nike pulled out of Athletics West what of financial value remained? Nothing When Reebok pulled out of The Enclave, what was left? Nothing. If Brooks pulled out of Hansons, would they have anything of financial worth remaining? YES. That is a better business model.
Your fact about superior athletes being in other camps helps in proving my point. Even with lesser athletes, the Hansons are creating worth. Thanks for proving my point.

Tell us all where you're from Sam Litz (alias), we're just dying to know. Important? Who said they were important? Who said they were famous?
No poster anywhere in this thread made that comment. So then, you are a Sam Liar, not Sam Litz. You know nothing about their business model. Kevin and Keith can have those homes paid off, but if Brookes pulled out, they would be paying for everything out of their own pocket and it would be far from easy. How long do you think that would last OH BRIGHT ONE???? With a bunch of 2:15 marathoners, not very long.

You said that other groups are dependent upon shoe companies. Shoe companies are always going to take care of athletes that can produce results and with that will come housing allowances and/or a fat contract, depending on the athlete. Do you know how much Dathan makes a year? Do you even have a clue as to what his salary is? You basically repeated what Kevin said in the video and then attempted to pawn it off as your own logic/idea. Bravo, well done. If Kevin told you to jump off a bridge.....never mind, it's above you.
Again, Rupp and Ritz versus Morgan and Kyle, or Morgan and Clint, or Clint and Johnson. RESULTS ARE WHAT MATTER!!! You really made yourself look smart by saying that the Oregon Project could produce 20 gold medals and it still wouldn't be as good as the Hanson's BUSINESS MODEL. If they produced 20 gold medalist Sam, Nike's business model would be to pay them and pay them well because they are winning gold medals and wearing Nike!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS? With a statement like that, you have solidified the fact that you know nothing about business.
If you hadn't made such arrogant, lying comments, I would have gladly listed my name, but you blew that dude. I'm a realist who happens to like both Kevin and Keith, but I don't play favorites or sugar coat things. They are what they are. Hall, Ritz, Meb, Browne, etc....are not with programs that have a bad business model, even for the future!!! Do you know what Meb pulls in? Ryan Hall? What a waste of time, you still aren't going to get it.
Scramble my name, how's that?

WOW a true insider. My name is Sam Litz and rather than include my name (because I am a nobody) in my original post, I made my comments anonymously. Please share with us your famous name. As someone that refers to themselves as an insider, you must be important.

I never commented on the quality of the runners. I commented on the BUSINESS MODEL. The Oregon Project could produce 20 gold medals and it still would not be as good as the Hansons BUSINESS MODEL. I am talking about a self sufficient training camp. Alberto's group would be done if Nike pulled out. Hansons are in a position to survive without outside funding.

They will be around for a long time, BUT so will groups like Deanna Kastor's (Mammoth), among others (Alberto's Nike Project). Their athletes are better and Nike among others are giving them "nice contracts", not just a place to stay and train with great runners. The question is, who will produce better athletes??? Rupp and Ritz versus Clint and Kyle. Who would you pick? Or how about Meb and Deana versus Chad and Melissa? I know the answer, do you?

It appears that the Hansons will be around for a long time. Other groups are renting property while they are buying it. Other groups are dependent upon shoe companies. They are their own sponsors. It seems like they have a better business model than others.

Can you read? Another worthless unintelligent post. The post you are referring to clearly stated that the poster, among many others (including YOU), can't run 2:15. How is being realistic bashing others hopes, as you stated?

Did you respond to the 10,000 comparison? NO.
Did you respond as to why I feel someone who is not even in the top 100 in the world doesn't have a chance at being on the podium in London? NO.
Sorry Ryan and Mark, you've got a great site, but some very, very dumb posters. When you want to back up your logic, Mr. Kevin is not fine!!!, I'm all ears. You said "People can do whatever they want"???? That was very deep. I'm pretty sure that that point was already stated as to thwart off someone from pointing out the obvious. Apparently, it didn't work for at least one person, YOU.
Any original ideas, something with substance as to the actual facts, like Clint never broke 2:14 and is not a 2:11 marathoner. Heck, Don Johns ran faster than Clint, in the marathon and the 10,000! There are realist and then there are people like you.

Kevin Is Fine.   July 15 at 10:13am
That's just the way he talks. He is sincere and passionate about running, as is Keith, and they are both really nice guys and always have been. I don't think it's a cop out, although I'm sure that both coaches would readily admit that they are happy they acquired Brian Sell, who gave the Project some real clout.

But...I agree that the 2:15 runners aren't really going to do anything. They are running in no man's land and won't do anything on the international scene.
Here's why: One runner actually said that his goal was to be on the pedestal (top 3 spots) for the 10,000 in 2012 (London). He has the right to say what he wants and to shoot for the stars, but knowing his current 5,000 and 10,000 pr's, that was not a realistic statement and pipe dream at best. He would have to drop at least 10 seconds per mile to even have an outside chance at making the US team. That's 2.5 seconds per lap for 25 laps. This runner is not currently even ranked in top 30, in America! If you went by current world rankings, he wouldn't even crack the top 100. Now, how can he realistically believe he's going to be on the pedestal 3 years from now? He can't. He's got as much of a chance as I do or you do, zero.
Kevin and Keith have great intentions and this is nothing personal, but what will become of the 10,000 meter runner that I speak of? He won't ever win a 10,000 at the Cardinal Invitation, let alone make the Olympic Team, so what will he accomplish when all is said and done? He'll definitely run faster with the Hanson's and set a pr, but that pr won't mean anything to anybody except that runner, just as our pr's mean something to us. To be at that level, you have to be "gifted" to a certain extent. If you're not, hard work will only take you so far.
Brian Sell is not just a hard worker, he's gifted. No, not the point that Geb is, but he's still gifted none the less. Clint never broke 2:14, but Brian broke 2:11, twice. Clint, regardless of his own personal comments, never had the ability to run that fast, and he never did. After 8 years of doing the same type of workouts as Brian, and even running with him, he would have broke 2:11 if he were capable. I would argue that even Kevin and Keith would agree with that statement. If you can't keep up with Brian in a workout, how can you do it in a race? You can't, and Clint couldn't.
I'm not picking on Clint, he's just an easy example. Someone will argue about his place in the 04' Olympic Trials Marathon. So what? Look at his times. They were weak fields with not a lot of depth. What did Clint do in the 08 trials, held in Central Park (Nov. 07)? See what I mean. 18th place and he was only 32 years old. He was 5th in 04', but over 2 minutes out of 4th......at that level, it's long way people. Clint's best chance was the marathon, and he couldn't even make the team.
Kevin and Keith need to somehow attract/recruit some top runners through contracts or whatever it takes. Without that happening, and Brian leaving soon, it's just a running club with a bunch of 2:15 marathoners that win local races or non-money races (ex. Disney Half), but nothing more. The Kyle O's and Chad J's of the group need to move on and let a younger crowd have their turn. They've had more than enough time to truly improve and get to the next level, but they haven't.
I'm sure Kevin and Keith are doing "fine" financially, but they've earned it and took a chance (although I don't believe they put a million dollars of their own money into it as I read somewhere...........where did they work to acquire a million dollars and just as important, why would they need a million dollars to start the team?). They can coach and run the team till they're old as the hills, but the runners will come and go and Hanson's will still be around.
That's my take, what's yours?
